im 130lb 5' 9" and also live in houston. i carry a SW1911SC 4 1/4" in a Tucker Texas Haratige IWB under t-shirts in August. being skinny is acturaly easier to carry as the shirts drape over your carry peice.

there are lots of bulges on my belt it could be my cell phone or blackbarry or colostomy bag (just kidding but if someone "makes you" thats what id tell them it is...end that conversation quickly huh) i think your overreacting and no one notices.

I'm 6'-0" and 200 pounds. So I'm mostly thin, except for a little gut right in front from my high-carb diet. I plan on carrying my Springfield Armory XD-9 subbie in a Crossbreed Super-Tuck IWB holster at 2:00 (between my first beltloop on the right and my hip). That's the most comfortable place for me, and it sort of "blends" in w/ my belly.

I'm not sure about TX weather, but I believe the Super-Tuck will be fine for Delaware weather.

This might work

I make a holster that is a combination of Kydex and leather. Here is a picture

My wife carries an XD9 Sub Compact and she says that it is the most comfortable thing. We had a few other holsters, Yes we do have a holster drawer, and she found that this is the best.

I carry a Glock 17 and use a different all leather holster that I also make.

My only suggestion is to choose a holster that has the mounting clips as far from you body as possible. The keeps the profile down and also keeps the weight distributed evenly.

One thing I have done, custom order, is add a band that goes from one side of the holster to the other, right over the gun section. This was made for a very skinny guy who did not like the bulge the holster made. The result is a very even curve of the body. I don’t have a picture of it, but I will see about getting one.

Good luck

The Springfield XD's conceal very well, and incorporate an additional safety feature that gives you a bit more piece of mind than a glock - I am awaiting my MAX CON V holster from Gary so I will let you know for sure how well it conceals!! After reading many reviews, I think it will work out well...

Ok here it is

Ok,
Like I promised I would get a picture of the holster with the band across the front. The band is made from leather, but it has a layer of Kydex inside. It is sewing in place to keep it from moving.

The holster was made specifically for a skinny guy, which I am not, and he loves it.

What do you think.

P.S. The dye job is terrible. It was before I had figured out how to get the dye consistent.

What position do you carry your HK in? I didn't see it in the post but if I missed it, then I apolgize.

I'm 6'0" and go anywhere from 170-180 lbs. I'm certainly not a big guy. I find that if I have my holster, Desantis Pro Stealth right now, anywhere past the 2:30 position, it sticks out like you read about and screams "MAN WITH A GUN!!" from across the county. Anywhere from 1:30 to 2:30 tucks in very nicely and is almost unnoticable. Thats with a pair of jean shorts and a very light t-shirt on. I wear my Jay-Pee duty belt to handle the holster for now and I could probably even make it less noticeable with a better holster and "real" gun belt.

I might try moving that holster more towards your centerline if it's possible.

Plus the fact that I drive a BMW so I greatly fear getting my car stolen, or broken into.
Best car breakin protection I ever had was a brown $200 Datsun pickup with a blue Chevy Luv fender sprayed black to sort of match.

I could even leave valuables in the bed and nobody bothered to notice.

Hi 97 octane,
I'm 5'7", 115lbs. My favorite IWB holster is the ARG from Mitch Rosen. He made the first rear mount belt loop holster, since copied by everyone. He now has two versions, the original and thin models. If I ever buy a new one it would be the Thin model. I've been using my ARG since '94. It's for the Officers .45 ACP. It keeps the butt tucked in better than any other's I've got. BTW, it's very important to use the correct belt with any holster. The difference between close and correct, with any holster, is very noticeable.
It really helps if you start with a slim gun. You want a slim slide, slim handle(grip), and a short butt. Barrel length is least important, when the gun is carried more or less vertical, and butt length is most critical, all other dimensions being equal.
Two other holster types you might consider: Belly Band and crotch type. The Band type should have a holster pouch on the inside to cushion between you and the metal. It should be shaped to hold the gun in a proper cant for the location ie: FBI tilt for strong side, and muzzle forward for crossdraw. Drawback is increased heat retention. I know a guy who sells holsters in gun shows, he's about my size, and he will pull a long slide Glock (type C) out of his pants to demonstrate the crotch type! He carries that Glock all day, and has no problem sitting down. And he wears jeans for this! (he hates jeans-but found he had to so he could prove to customers it was possible). Heat wise, I think the crotch type would be more comfortable for you.
The belly band types I have were made by Guardian Leather, Inc. Not sure if they are still around. Excellent quality. They came in both left and right hand models. The crotch types also come in handed versions, can't remember the names.

Size comparison:

Glock 27 -------------------- Colt Officers

Slide 1.025" ---------------------- 0.920"
frame 1.150 ---------------------- 0.760
grips 1.165 ---------------------- 1.375 (custom)

height 4.00 (stock mag)---------- 4.80 (5.075 w/pad)
length 6.2 approx ----------- +0.750 longer (hammer)
