The only 'polite' world we will have is when everyone IS armed.:yup::comeandgetsome:

If there was no chance of crime, and no chance of being attacked by dogs, or other animals. I guess I'd have to say no, as there would be no need then. But, that's not possible so the gun is always on me or within reach.

I voted yes. It's hard to break a good habit.

Sure.

Crime isn't the only reason to have the ability to defend oneself.

I don't carry just for the two-legged critters, and a crime-free world won't change the occasional need to shoot a four-legged critter.

You read my mind.

Having drawn a gun on charging dogs in the past, I don't want to give up that ability.

I wouldn't.
Carry is a drag, literally.

Holster, gun, spare magazine if not two, magazine holster, knife, OC/CS, planning my clothing and body motions as related to a given outing & situation amongst the public, being and staying 'aware' of my surroundings, ongoing study and analysis of multiple state & local gun, carry, and civilian defense laws, constant ongoing training, continuing education as related to defensive handgun/shotgun/rifle skill$, maintaining membership$ at multiple indoor and outdoor ranges, hunting down and purchasing ammunition which is no longer Budweiser priced, quarterly 'discussions' with my wife about why do I "walk around wearing a gun", having to tell my kids and deal with crying when I say no we can't stop at some random K-12 school to play in their playground...because daddy is carrying and it's unlawful to posses on or about school grounds.

I could continue but you get where I'm going.
Carry and the responsibility that comes with it is a drag.

If such a hypothetical world were truly existent and sustainable, which it isn't not even in comics and fairy tales (!), then yes I would trade in my weapons and all my gear tomorrow and be done with the aggravation.
I wouldn't miss them either. I'd not mind spending my time, money, and brain power/overhead on something other than sharpening my claws and postulating from which direction would I predate myself if I were a predator.

To me and my mind guns are little more than tools.
Tools as a means to a stop or survive crime against my person end.

- Janq doesn't read comics nor ever believed in fairy tales

Well, in this fantasy land I would still enjoy target shooting, and might need to defend myself from 4-legged critters.

And my car would get 2,000 MPG while flying to the moon and beautiful women would swoon at my feet daily.
