Okay I gotta rant. Certain ads really p--- me off.
First and foremost I HATE this #### #### ad.
What in flying duckpoop makes you think I identify with three guys in balaclavas wearing fake uniforms carrying fake guns posing like they were members of some fake agency?
For the love of God if you're going to try to show your products in the hands of somebody whose opinion would persuade me to buy your product, get a real soldier or a real law enforcer and give me their name, rank, service agency or branch, etc.
If you want a badass in your ad get a real badass. Or at least get someone cool. Old Gunny as a spokesman for Glock - see that's cool. That's a good ad. Namless faceless fake "operators..." Bleh!
Oh and here is a thought... Maybe I'd like to see some Joe Blow civilian in the ad instead? You know someone I can empathize with perhaps? I don't throw on kevlar and go bust crackhouses on a daily basis. Of course not even a member of a SWAT team does that either but I digress.
I want a gun that'll never wear out, that'll be easy to own and operate, and that'll be there when a meth junkie tries to shove a sharpened piece of rebar into my throat so he can steal my wallet and buy another hit. I don't give a flying crap if it's in law enforcement or military use. Many of our favorite guns aren't!
For the love of Pete if this is your idea of modeling the product and you're just going to be tacky about it, at least get some girls. I'll at least look at the ad a little longer that way.
Now here's another ad that gets my goat. I forget who it was for but it was a major name brand... I've forgotten who but it was somebody who I really expected to know better! The ad was for some kind of 1911 IIRC and it said "You may not have been there but your gun has" and it showed a SWAT team in action.
Bull hockey and horse feathers! My gun ain't never been there and even if it had, that don't help me none! I wanna know what you're gonna do to make sure my particular individual gun is just as reliable as the ones you purpot to make for your model, who's of course once again wearing a balaclava and a fake uniform carrying a fake gun posing like he was a member of some fake agency... AAAARGH!!!
But the booby prize, I am glad to say, actually does not go to any firearm related product. It goes to this sorry outfit.
A full size fighting folder built to the durability requirements of full-on, Spec-Ops combat! If you need a utility folder, this is not the knife for you. The StratoFighters feature Dark Op's proprietary RaptorLok™, a self cleansing double talon locking system that uses the entire length of the knife to support the opened blade. Unlike modern unproven and complicated locking systems, this basic principles of this design have been tested for over fifty years. Dark Ops' secondary CrisisCross™ cross-bolt locking system serves the function of preventing the knife from being closed while open. The pommel end of the knife offers an integrated emergency window breaker and paracord safety tethering hole. The scales are made of T6160 aircraft grade hardened aluminum, not porous materials that cannot be decontaminated from bodily fluids or chemical munitions. Carved into the sides of the scales are lateral control grooves that provide indexing points in darkness as well as additional control without increasing the width of the handle. Deep finger grooves orient the knife in the hand and add a third more grip area. Quartz impregnated inserts provide extreme circumstances grip enhancement and are replaceable should decontamination be required. The Pocket clip is reversible for true ambidextrous tip up carry. The finish on the blade is Carbon Black Titanium CarboNitride (TiCN) vacuum deposited finish and is designed to shed the micro-fine airborne sand of Middle-eastern deserts. The Blade steel is made from Dark Ops proprietary CTV2 steel, an exotic and expensive Hybrid of Chromium, Cobalt, Tungsten, Vanadium, Molybdenum, in an alloy of surgical grade stainless steel. Thorough hardened to 58 HRC Rockwell with a secondary cryogenic cutting edge hardening, it is a steel that is basically indestructible! A full quarter inch thick, it is one of the heaviest production blades in existence today.
