Reviewing the ''1-10'' poll thread I did, where folks voted http://www.combatcarry.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=6580 (and thx to all) on their perceived risk factor - I got to thinking.
While it seems the 3 or 4 zone scored highest I was very aware of how many folks commented on how their area had ''gone down''. Either due to increased development and/or, because of drug oriented stuff moving in. Plenty of votes were higher too.
This is a worrying trend and I almost feel guilty compared to some because I am lucky enough to be well away from much of that.
I do have meth labs in the area - broadly - I do have knowledge of some fairly unpleasant events at times but hey - it is as nothing compared to some. All that and I rant on about my dedication to carry!!
However, it still does not change the fact as I said before - that frequency of ''events'' is not everything. Things can happen - period.
It is no wonder that we do elect to carry - but for some I have the feeling that if they didn't, they'd be walking a greater daily tightrope. That too making the lack of CCW uptake in such areas seem little short of crazy.
So - what may we see as the answers? OK, we here have a means of self defence but still have no wish to employ such ''just for kicks". We cannot go out and ''clean up the neighborhood''! LE is in most cases over-stretched beyond what is really acceptable (1:1700 - is that the ratio of LE to folks?).
How do you all see this, another say 5 years down the line? Some areas seem to be in almost exponential decline. Any remedies at all?
