I got my black Ops Pro about a week ago and have been wearing it more or less every waking hour trying to get used to IWB carry. The BOP is by far the most comfortable IWB holser I had ever worn but I must admit that I was begining to wonder if IWB carry was for me. Even with a top quality holster the gun "still got on my nerves". Well, I made a bit of a discovery today. Seems it wasnt the gun, the belt or the holster, it was ME.

As I am fairly new to carrying I haven't done a lot of the expirmentation yet. My issue was that I was basically cinching my belt as tight as I could while still being able to breathe. This was bringing the gun extremely close to my body but made me feel like I have a brick constantly pressing agasint my <ahem> "Cheek". This was incredibly annoying. I was hoping I would just get used to it. Well this morning I woke up, put my holster and belt on and said "Wow, this feels a lot different!, maybe I am getting used it to!" But then I noticed I hadn't done my belt up to the usual notch. I had backed it off one. WOW! What a difference!

I can still tell the gun and holster are there but they are NO where near is noticeable. It's extremely comfortable. Almost as comfortable as OWB. I am one happy camper. Amazing that such a small thing as a single belt notch would make such a huge issue. No more leaving the glock at home and pocketing the LCP for me anymore!

Glad you found a system that works for you. Everyone is different, and some people will recommend a way to do it but you aren't them. You need to experiment.

I've been using IWB for 8 mos., now. While carrying is comfortable, drawing seems to be an issue. When I draw the pistol pulls my pants up aways before it gives (is there such a thing as self-inflicted-melvin?). I'm hoping that the holster will break in a little bit and will be fine. How does your BOP function with the IWB draw?

zacii, my IWB is kydex with a precisely adjustable retention force. I set it so the pistol is firmly held but can be drawn without displacing holster, belt, or pants. Maybe a leather IWB gets compressed by the belt...

For me, dropping 20 lbs this summer helped. Probably for the same reason as you. Just different method of loosening.

Mine works great. I think what you are describing is going to be a bit of an issue with any IWB holster. Do you have a good quality gun belt? I had that issue a lot before I bought one.

Yeah, there is no one-size-fits-all rig. I've been tweaking mine and it's been getting better and better. Got a new gun belt and that's truly made all the difference.

I have found that a quick smooth jerk upward helps with that problem.

I'm going with looser belt and suspenders to hold up my pants for this reason. The amount of belt tension to keep an all steel 1911 from pulling my pants down is very uncomfortable.

Cinching your belt as tight as possible will also slow down your draw. I'm glad you found a more practical solution.

Leather has that quality. I think that I will only use kydex for my IWB holsters. I like the look and versatility of leather (the BOP looks like a real winner...), but the convenient "pull" of kydex gets my vote. Not to mention the guaranteed ability to re-holster one handed and easily, at that.

Maybe I'll try it (leather IWB) out someday just for the options...:smoke23:

I too had trouble finding the "sweet spot", but finally it happened. I lost 80 pounds & had too keep buying smaller britches & tightening the belt. I started carrying at about 3 to 3:30, but the bone on my side bothered me. Finallally I went to 4 to 4:30 posistion & it sinks right in the soft sweet spot. I sometimes almost feel that I forgot it.

I have a leather IWB with double stiching and a re-enforced mouth that does NOT collapse. I can draw and reholster 1 handed no problem. Here's a pic, Thanks to Dave & George at Little Bear Holsters for hooking me up with such an awesome product. It doesn't hold the gun, instead it retains it until I choose for it to release. It's smooth and fast. All leather needs to break in as well. Kydex does not. Kydex is more of a snatch and grab, but with a Leather holster it's a smooth single continuous release after the break in. There's various methods of break in, I like the plastic bag trick. Wrap your gun in a ziplock bag or something similar and stick it in the holster (mag pouch can work the same way). Keep it there for 24hours. Then try it. The leather should have stretched enough to allow you to unholster your weapon easily and smoothly.

I'm glad your finely comfortable. I to carry a Glock 22 I.W.B on the right side and have for many years. I have six or seven market holster's also. But to fined real comfort I had to go to a custom holster one that would let me take hold of the butt with a natural grip keeping my finger to ride to the side of the slide.. It's slightly slanted with the muzzle in and the grip out just enough for a good hold!. A custom holster maybe your answer! as to the ride up during the draw a smooth fast action should help with the ride problem. I think a small amount of lift is normal and exceptable.. NOTICE I SAID A SMALL AMOUNT....

Nice Leather you got there! I don't have anything against it understand, I just (perhaps in my rookie status) feel more confident as yet with that which I know will work.

Further and proper entry into leather carry may yet bear fruit!

Plus, I can't afford works of art like yours yet so...

I also used to do that, and until I got a proper belt, I pretty much had to. Even when I got the proper belt, I still did it. One day I decided to loosen it up a little, and walla, alot more comfortable, and easier to wear with no difference in concealibility.
