I thought that most of the counties issued them immediatly! What county are you in? I would call them and ask. In my county and at least a few of the surrounding counties I know after you go before the board (if there is one) you go to the clerks desk and one is made right then and there.

The best thing for you to do is ask for patience. Here's my story from Macomb County.
4/30/09: Applied, fingerprinted.
5/7/09: Sheriff's office receives my background report from State of Michigan & FBI
5/8/09: The licensing board has 45 days from this date to accept or deny.
7/13/09: Received my CPL.

Since that time I've heard that applications are flying into the board but that they are getting much more efficient.

Good Luck

In Ingahm county I was told that once you are approved, you will be notified by mail, then you have to go back to county clerks office to get the permit.
That is the way I set it up with the county when I got mine. Im in ingham county aswell. They did offer the choice of getting it mailed, but I didnt want to rely on the mail service..It took about 7 weeks total time to get my permit. You should be fine.
