I work for a community college. A lot of our student's are a bit "rough around the edges" but I would say about 97 percent of them are good people just trying to get a education. Then there is the other 3 percent.

Well, today we had a bit of a "incident". One of the local white supremacists decided that they wanted to sign up for classes. Ok, whatever. I don't really care who takes classes as long as they don't bother me. Well, First time students have to speak with an advisor to sign up for their classes. The guy starts flipping out because all of our advisors are black and refuses to speak to any of them. He is told "Great, cya later!" He starts raising a bit of a commotion and is escorted out of the building by our security staff.

45 mins later he comes back and walks into a bathroom. Someone that had seen the first incident noticed him and called security which then called the police. The police come, cuff him and cart him off. As he is being dragged out the door he screams "I'm coming back and I'm going to kill every !*&@ing <insert racial slur> in this @*#&ing place!"

I wasn't present for the first incident but I was present for the second one. Oh, I should probably mention any employee found to be carrying a firearm on campus is grounds for immediate termination.

So I go and talk to the head of security. He is a retired cop that did 35 years on the force. I ask him "Are you armed?" He said no. "Do you PLAN on being armed from this point forward?" "No, it's against school policy" "Is ANYONE on this campus armed?" "No" So we just had someone threaten to come into out building and start killing people and we don't have a single person on this campus that could do ANYTHING about it?? And the reason we don't have that is because it's against school policy???

He said that for the next few days they would have a couple of uniformed officers hang out on campus but after that we are basically on our own. I seriously CAN NOT BELIEVE that people are THIS stupid.

Community Colleges have boards and voters to keep happy. Start a publicity campaign and put them in the spotlight.

That statement should result in some pretty serious charges.

What a dolt.

Well, this is one for the books.
When this chump comes back in a few weeks/months when everyones forgotten about him and kills a dozen people or so because no one there was armed, we can sit back an listen to more of these antigun nimrods rambling about how some poor defenseless skinhead was spiritually possessed by a Remington 12 gauge that forced him to go shoot a bunch of kids at a college.

These school admins need to get their heads out of their rear ends and accept the fact that bad guys dont obey the rules....that why we call them the BAD guys. And they ARE going to carry guns and keep doing what they do until we all get wise and start making sure that our schools are secured by having staff and even student body who are armed and can take these animals down before they can get a body count.

What a loser he must be. Kinda hard to believe there's clowns like that still out there.

Hopefully the state will file charges against him for terroristic threats and actions, if someone at the school doesn't, that should keep him busy for a while.

The school told you they don't care in my opinion. They are more interested in keeping votes and funding up.

You can't count on security for your own though, security is for a more general overview of the population. Keep your eyes open and be super aware of people. Situational Awareness is your best friend it sounds like to me. I hope nothing comes of his threats

Well the college should just ban him from the property, that will keep you all safe. :banned:

You would think that the wise campus authorities would have a properly equipped security force. Ideally they should be armed in a worst case scenario in the event of an active shooter on campus. I wonder what it would take to make the administrators of the campus decide to arm the security staff on campus?

This reminds me of the college campus where both my nephews attend in CT. Their campus is a "gun free zone." As many of us tend to call them, a "target rich environment." I have never asked my sister if the campus security staff is armed. I'll have to ask her the next time I talk to her on phone.

Let's hope that the college campus bans this individual from entering the campus again. In light of his threat to kill people on campus this is the wisest thing to do under the circumstances.

Be careful all the same!

Thinking about it a bit more this is what REALLY honks me off. If the worst (god forbid) were to happen and that really did take place...Some anti gun moron would use it as a platform as to why guns are bad. I really don't understand the concept of lifeless objects being able to make a moral choice. That remington 12 gauge would be demonized, not that psychopath that used it.

Hate groups are what orignally made me decide to start carrying full time. There is a rather large KKK presence in the city that I live and work in. So this threat carries quite a bit of weight with me. Now granted they tend to stick to burning cross's in their own front yards out in the middle of nowhere, that doesnt mean that one of them isn't going to go off the deep end.

I sure feel your frustration. I'd be very "situationally aware" for a while and certainly know where all the areas of egress were!

Getting shot with a firearm can also cause 'immediate termination'.:yup:

Be careful out there...

I think I will forward this to the editor of my local paper. I think any place that disarms the very people that have been checked the most to be upstanding citizens is just stupid.

Can you please provide the name of the college so they will print it? PM me if necessary, I understand anonymity.

Given what happened at Virginia Tech and at the college in Canada (not to mention the many elementary and secondary schools) it's just stupid for campus security to act that way. Can you take it to the school administration? Can you get something in the local paper about it? Is there a lawyer that could contact the school and point out the negligence?

Are there other faculty members in agreement with you that could promise a walkout if they don't take a more realistic approach to campus security?

I know if I was still a college student I'd feel safe since it's a gun free zone. It's like shields on a starship. I spent 3 years at Virginia Tech myself back in the mid 90s and I don't remember ever worrying about safety. Times have changed and every time I'm back on campus for a game or something it makes me sick to think about what happened. Of course they plan to keep firearms off property in the future so that it's safer for everyone. I have a friend that's an engineering instructor at a local community college. After the VT shooting they made their campus a gun free zone as well. He said having a weapon can cost him his job. I guess it's easier to just stick your head in the sand than make the place more secure.
