A man I've been doing freelance work for is moving from the Dallas area to LA in a few months. His family has been trying to sell off most of what they own to make the trip lighter.

Yesterday, he told me he would GIVE me his American Security fire-rated gun safe for FREE. His only condition was that I find a way to move it myself.

So, it looks like I'm getting an American Security gun safe. It looks 95% new inside and out, and is about 3 years old. He said he paid 800-900 for it.

Is there anything I should know or consider when it comes to this brand of safe? And how the crap do I get it up a flight of stairs? Thanks!

My guess is this safe could be 500-700 pounds!

I've used an appliance dolly to move a washing machine recently, and that was not walk in the park.

I've heard of what's called a "stair climber". How does it work and where do you think I could rent one, provided it will make this easier than a dolly?

He's a liberal Democrat, so he'll fit right in on the Left Coast. Super nice guy, has owned some guns, but votes left.

I hired a safe mover to do the job. He's moving it over Saturday afternoon.

Pick-up at the current location into my desired location at my home. He's the delivery guy for a safe company in the Dallas area...I'm sure he'll do it right.

I'm going out on a limb here, but does anyone have a clue how much this safe will weigh?

The dimensions are 60"x 22"x 16"

The model is not listed anywhere on American Security' website. It is fire-rated.
