Hey everyone. I have a total of 7 mags for my 229. I'll just list them.

2 .40 12 round Sig Sour (came with gun)
2 .40 12 round Mec Gar (ordered from CDNN for $19.99)

1 9mm 15 round Sig Sour (came with sig xchange kit)
2 9mm 17 round Mec Gar (ordered from cheaper than dirt for $24)

So the four .40 flush 12 round are made in the same factory in Italy and identical (the four on the right). Same with the 9mm, (three on the left) except the finish, as the factory 9mm has the phosphate finish (one on the left end).

Whats neat is that the +2 mag extension is interchangeable between the .40 and 9mm. It appears the springs and internals are also identical, although I just switched out the +2 base plate between 9mm and the .40.

This might be of interest because the regular 15 round 9mm is $40 which is what I wanted. Its only 5/8 of and inch difference so this works out great to have option of flush or +2 for each mag in both calibers.

Everything should be this modular. I found the 9mm slide new with nightsights for $209. Pure luck, but sometimes it pays to go with your intuition. This is a great set up for me for HD, range, and some carry.

Yeah, they're interchangeable if you are running the 229-1 9mm mags, but they won't fit the older 13rd 9mm mags for the early guns that ran the 228 frame. I'm not a big fan of those plates in most situations, they just look funny. But I do have a couple of 20rd Mec-Gar mags for my 92FS that I run when I use it as a house gun.

That's a great deal on the slide assembly. I found a 9mm kit for my 229 for ~$250 earlier this year and snagged it. Now all you need is a 357Sig barrel and you'll have the trifecta.

Thanks for pointing that out Ianthin. Yes, these are the 229-1 mags on the newer 229 that is based on a .40 frame. I'll likely use the +2 on two .40 mags for house duty. It's a great carry gun for me as well, but think I would just use the flush mags for carry in .40. $250 is a great deal on 9mm kit. I didn't plan on running 9mm when I got it but this modular approach has worked out really well. I've considered adding 357 sig barrel. I was planning on a .45 for house duty but .40 works too as I wanted something bigger than 9mm. More psychological than anything I suppose, but this 229 is fits exactly what I wanted... HD round, night sights, range gun, and winter carry gun.

My daily carry is a P229 SAS in 357Sig. The 229 is my favorite of all the Sigs, I've got several. My current house gun is a P227 with their 14rd magazine.

I really like the .45 but don't see myself adding one. I like the extra capacity of the .40. Maybe that's why the 5/8 inch plate added 2 rounds of .40 was exciting.. Now if I could get rid of my 380 and only have two guns, 938 and 229 I would be set!
