Is it my Shield, dirty ammo or the way I grip?

(I did not know where to put this question so feel free to move it)

This may be a dumb question but; why does my right thumb get so dirty? I shot 150 rounds of Remington UMC 9mm today in my M&P Shield. When I was done, I was surprised on how dirty my right thumb was. (I am right handed) Could it be the ammo, the way the Shield is made or maybe the way I am gripping the gun? I did not notice this amount of dirt when shooting American or Winchester ammo. FYI my gun had been cleaned by a professional and only had 150 rounds through it before tonight. Thanks in advance.

ypour thumb is right beside the slide amd frame gap( hold your pistol up yo the light you can see the top round in your mag right below the chamber) every time you fire residue blows out that gap and UMC is pretty nasty

Thanks for your response. It looks like the ammo could be the problem.
Spot on by subhuman. UMC seems really dirty.

perfecta and UMC turn my hands and my gun muzzle black pretty quick

run a white towel around the muzzel and the frame below it, bet it's filthy

you can see residue around my knuckle and along my finger of my support hand from slide/frame blow by

I was reading a post about ammo and how clean it is. Fiocchi seemed to be the cleanest of most of the range ammo.

Thanks for your input. I am rather new to guns so I had to ask. Sounds like I should find cleaner ammo.
I don't buy Remington UMC. Too darn dirty.
As long as the gun runs well use what you want and clean as needed.

Like others said Remington ammo is very dirty for range ammo. I have found the Perfecta range ammo to be much cleaner and cheaper. CCI Lawman is some of the cleanest range ammo I have shot. Good luck!
Are you loading your mags with your right thumb?
The ammo is fine. It cycles your pistol, right? Don't worry about it.

You might be over lubricating. Wipe everything down with a dry cloth before reassembling.
