Hi :knockedout:

I wonder if anyone here can help me to answer the following question; is an automatic knife with a blade shorter than 4” considered to be a pocket knife? I am addressing the Lone Wolf 14900 Harsey D2 found at
Lone Wolf Harsey D2 Part Serrated Double Action Automatic Knife . The state is Florida.

I think that the fact that it is small enough to be carried in your pocket, makes it a pocket knife. It is an automatic knife, which is illegal in some states (check the laws where you reside).

I'm sure someone from Florida knows better than I, but doesn't a Florida Concealed Weapons License/Permit allow the holder to carry all kinds of fun stuff, including automatic knives?
Although a CCW permit allows the holder to carry even an automatic knife with a blade of size longer than 4” long (the size-limit for pocket knifes), guns and knives are not allowed in all different places. However, there are not so many restrictions for pocket knifes (not talking about government’s offices). That is the reason because of my question. :knockedout:

For the most part yes.
I've carried my autos on occasion and lately i've been toting an CS voyager with a 5" tanto blade, 11" OAL (only 4" and under politically correct styled blades allowed without the ccw)
..the permit also includes OC sprays, stunguns, tasers, batons etc..

Exactly! Folding knives with a max 4” long blade are not considered weapons. They are just pocket knifes and therefore they do not required CCW to carry. What I do not know is if the fact that they are automatic knives makes any difference. :image035:

Only with with the ccw ..but yes they are allowed
Does this mean that you are not allowed to carry an automatic knife without CCW even if the blade is max 4” long? In that case it implies that an automatic knife is considered a weapon and not a folding knife which any child is allowed to carry without problem.

You can own it..but that's about it, without.
Autos are considered outside their definition "Common Pocket Knife"

Then I guess that an automatic knife is out of question. I do not want a knife that needs CCW to be carried. The reason is that a pocket knife is allowed in most places since they are not considered weapons and therefore they do not require CCW. I will need to find then some nice SA folding knife. Any good ideas?

Something like the Benchmade Griptilian Or for cheaper the large sized aus8 KaBar Dozier is a Great Value knife!
..With around 3.5" blades make them both more defensively capable than smaller blades yet still more acceptable, as their both under the 4" mark ..either would be fine.
