Israelis Baffled by News of Defenseless US Soldiers

Many Israelis want to know: why didn't the soldiers attacked by a U.S. Army major-turned-terrorist return fire?

When a Muslim goes, well, Muslim in Israel he is typically shot to death by someone--say, a reserve soldier--within seconds of screaming "Allah Akbar."

In contrast with the Israeli experience, it took 10 minutes before a civilian police officer at Fort Hood was able to shoot and stop Muslim fanatic Nidal Malik Hasan.

How could that happen? How could so many people trained in the strategies and tactics of modern warfare be so defenseless?

The answer--and this may astonish many Americans--is that the victims were unarmed. U.S. soldiers are not allowed to carry guns for personal protection, even on a 340-acre base quartering more than 50,000 troops.

So it goes in brain-dead, liberal America .

Fort Hood is a "gun free" zone, thanks to regulations adopted in one of the very first acts signed into law by anti-gun President Bill Clinton in March, 1993.

POSTSCRIPT: Israeli teachers, from kindergarten on up, are also armed; so, a Virginia Tech-type slaughter is highly unlikely at an Israeli university.

Israelis, who have had to combat terrorism all their lives, are not afraid of guns. They are an armed people, ready, willing, and able to defend themselves and their country.

Unlike indoctrinated Americans, paralyzed by fear and political correctness, Israelis understand that people, not guns, kill people.

American Jews, for the most part, are nothing like their Israeli co-religionists. American Jews -- as this American Jewish journalist well knows -- are disproportionately liberal and anti-gun. This is especially true of elitist, intellectual/professional Jews in Manhattan and the New York suburbs. They pride themselves in their masochistic, near-suicidal "tolerance" of Jew-haters and violent criminals.

The lessons of the Holocaust are lost on these Jews. They relish victimhood ... Proud, tough Jews and proud, patriotic Americans make liberal Jews--and liberals in general--nervous.

Glad somebody in the world gets it.

Got it.

When you are a speck of sand surrounded by a beach of people who want you annihilated, you have no delusions as to the necessity of being armed. Our opulence has created a class of people who think that words, not force, keeps them safe.

BTW, what good is an AR15 that has no magazine in it?

Forcible disarmament has a predictable result. Apparently, this escapes the small minds of those who disarm citizens and turn them into victims.

IMO, it is treasonous and criminal.

The insane and criminal believe it's worthwhile to continue to disarm people, declare "Gun Free Zones" and to call that "security" in any way, shape or form. The insane, because they don't get it; the criminal, because they do ... and thank us for making it so bloody easy for violent criminals to do what they do.

We stand up and dare to silently declare we shall not be victims. God help us, in some communities, if we're seen by some screaming, bleating sheep who thinks little Johnnie's gonna die because of the mere sight of a gun. Armed upstanding citizens in gross disproportion to criminals on any field are going to survive any attack upon them in far greater numbers than is possible now. It can't be avoided. We merely have to agree that being armed and able to withstand attack is acceptable, and to stop criminalizing ourselves for daring to do it.

Oddly enough a year after Billy Jeff signed the no guns on bases a former airman went on a rampage at Fairchild AFB killing several folks at the hospital before an SP dropped him at 70 yds with an M9, pretty sure he double tapped him.

The hero's name is Andy Brown. I met him this past summer, and he is a sweetheart of a man -- kind, gentle, unassuming, humble.

Using a firearm which he had never fired before -- his "own" issue weapon was in for repairs that day -- Brown fired four shots from a marksman's kneel, in the open, while under rifle fire from the assailant. Brown was aiming for the assailant's center mass, as he had been trained. Two of the shots missed, one was a superficial strike to the shoulder, and one drilled the assailant right between the eyes, knocking him off his feet and killing him. The distance was 70 yards.

You can hear the story in Andy Brown's own words on ProArms Podcast # 33 (see 033 Andy Brown), recorded during an LFI-1 class at the Firearms Academy of Seattle this past summer. It's definitely worth listening to.

A powerful interview. 1994 was a banner year, what with all the crime, the AWB. It's moving to hear from such people in their own words.

The state of our nation is growing steadily worse, reading this make me sick to my stomach. A base with 50K troops and no one is allowed to carry a gun...WTH?????:gah::gah:

The Israelis are baffled and the Muslim terrorists are just laughing, meanwhile, our government administration is planning on MORE gun control...we're in deep Kim Chee folks.:hand1::banned::ziplip:

DOD is no more interested in letting military or civilians CC on base than most major law enforcement agencies are supportive of CC for the same reason, a fallacy that if a small sign at the gate says "No Firearms", no one will bring one on base. Ft Hood will only reinforce the idea that more manpower and resources need to be devoted to base LE, this will turn into a way to get money for something that may or may not have made the grade during the last budget scramble.
