...through his ribs with a sharp object.

For Valentine's Day I gave my sweetheart a Benchmade model 690 - the Elishewitz model with blue anodized titanium liners, rosewood scales, carbon fiber bolsters, and black coated semi-serrated blade.

And yes, he received it in a box, not via a sucking chest wound.

It's knife W in the pic.

I know's it's a week early, but I was afraid I'd forget to package up the thing for our romantic weekend getaway. (Let's say it involves a cabin and a hot tub. :tongue2: ) That, and every man needs a good sharp pointy thing. He could use it now.

I chose that one because it's a good utility size and looks as good as it functions. This man certainly deserves it.

He loved it. He showed it off to his friends and his parents, and it's now clipped to his pocket.

Gee, and I was feeling good about being so thoughtful and getting my wife the pink shoes she'd been looking at for the last couple of weeks. ;)

nice knife. My Gf tends to buy me knives too. So far she has picked out a good Kershaw and a nice buck hunting knife for me. No thanks with the knife in the ribs, but I do get punched occasionally if I tickle her.

Hmmm, I wonder if my wife would rather have a new Big Bore 1911 than the jewelry I got her? I am going to have to ponder this for awhile.... :9:

Betty,

Just looking at the picture again. What is the story with knife A? The is a real interesting hilt setup. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it.

rstickle,
That's the Cold Steel Black Bear Classic. That subhilt is supposed to make it easier for your hand to retract the knife if you do get it lodged between ribs, or somethinglikethat. Just my opinion, but if they want to call that a combat knife, I think they should've picked something more grippy than micarta.

looks a bit big for a fightin knife anyway. Personally I like a shorter , more manuverable blade.

Nice gift Betty. My wife got me a S&W M27 3.5" barrel. So just keep in mind the longer you keep this guy around the better the gifts need to get.

As a former jarhead, I think the BF deserves at least a Bronze Star just for dating you  :wink1:

Now that may be the understatement of the day!!

I think every "combat" knife I saw during my military life had either leather, or machined metal of some sort.

You need to write a book about "Gifts That Guys Would Rather Have"
I'm probably gonna get a mushy card with a pre~printed rhyme & a doggone "Whitman Sampler" chocolate assorted cremes geeshh...
Bite into one...yuk...coconut paste
Bite into another...yuk...pink cherry creme
Bite into another...???...what IS that stuff in there?

I'd rather have a nice folder any ol' holiday!
Great Gift!

QKShooter,

I went through that for a little while until I just sat my wife down and said, lets go shopping. We'll get you something you want and me something I want. It works for us.

Valentine's Day is one of those annoying holidays created by merchants to make a few bucks off us by guilting us into remembering our sweethearts.

The Whitman's Sampler is one of the most horrible chocolate abominations ever created. If you're going to give chocolate, give Godiva. *drool* Now, if there was a Whitman's Sampler of ammunition in all varieties, that would be fun.

I'm happy to see my sweetheart carrying his new knife daily, though he has to deep conceal it because he's not allowed to have any kind of weapon at work.

It's hard for women to find something appropriately lovey-dovey for guys. It's "assumed" that the gift given has to be romantic. What does that leave us with? Smelly cologne the guy will never use and will make me sneeze anyway? I've decided to screw the candy and fluffy teddy bears and stick to sharp pointy things and other manly things like football tickets and socket wrenches.

Good list Betty.

Tools, sports, knives, guns and ammo. All good.

I don't want and don't expect romantic gifts for any occassion.

Seems you did good Betty. Personally I like getting items I will use , rather than foo-foo items that will never see the light of day. Luckily I have a woman who has good taste in knives and gear.
