I know it's a long way off, but it gives me plenty of time to plan and save up some money, etc.

I'll either take the Advanced Tactical Pistol (ATP) course - again, or the Close Quarter Tactics (CQT). I don't suppose anyone would be interesting in going? You got a year to save up some money and I will guarantee you will enjoy it and be tactically advanced and a better defensive marksman.

I'd sure like to - and had even thought of taking similar at my local club when some guys come round to do a three day course their in October.

But - too many priorities one way and another - need to watch outgoings a bit better. Not to mention ''these old bones'' - not so sure I have the stamina any more :Biggrin:

I understand about the priority thing - that's exactly why I didn't go this summer.

Your "old bones'' would do fine; stamina is not really an issue.

I've always wanted to visit Gunsite, and this sounds very tempting! Has anyone on this list been there and able to give a report? I would be very interested in reading any blogs on Gunsite.

Well, I've taken their 250 - Defensive Pistol, 350 - Intermediate Defensive Pistol, 499 - Advanced Defensive Pistol, and AT - Advanced Tactical Pistol Problems, 260 – Defensive Shotgun, and EW1 & EW2 - Edged Weapons, Units 1 and 2.

I've also been to Thunder Ranch, Handgun Level II Low Light course and Blackwater. Gunsite is the only one I've been to more than once. The training is top notch! The instructors are top notch!

The Lord willing, I'm going back to Gunsite for more!

I should add this, Gunsite really urges potental students to start with 250 to be sure they are up on marksmanship, gun safety, gun manipulation, etc.

But sometimes they will make exceptions, but it's kinda rare. The problem is if they get someone in a class that wasn't quite ready, it impacts the entire class.

The CQT - Close Quarters Tactics I want to take next summer, has a prerequisite of 250, but one might be able to get by that.

Gunsite teaches an excellent balance of marksmanship and tactics. I can go on and on about Gunsite, so if you want to hear more, let me know.

I decided to post this addendum as a new post instead of editing my previous post because I assume the edit won't show up as a new post and a new post will.

What I wanted to add is that, the Grand Canyon is about a 2 hour drive from Gunsite; so if you could manage getting there a day early, or stay one day after the class, you could spend the day at the Grand Canyon.
