From NRA-ILA:

Tuesday, March 14, 2006

Today, Tuesday, March 14, Senate Bill 418, "The Personal and Family Protection Act" passed the Kansas House of Representatives with a vote of 90 to 33! This important legislation sponsored by Senator Phil Journey (R-26) is now heading back to the Senate for expected concurrence.

The Governor needs to hear Kansans want their Second Amendment Rights Protected!

Kansans should start contacting Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D) toll-free at (877) 579-6757, local at (785) 296-6240, via email at www.ksgovernor.org/comment.html, or fax (785) 368-8788 and respectfully ask her to sign SB 418 when it reaches her desk.

Spread the word to your friends, family members, and co-workers to help out by calling Governor Sebelius. The time has come for Kansans to be trusted to protect themselves and their loved ones!

I hope it all goes thru okay, I have been kinda watching for it to pass if the Gov doesnt veto it again. I think this time they have enough votes to override a veto tho...so hopefully good news for Kansans!

Doubt it will really help, but I went to that web site and sent my encouragement to sign the bill, speaking as a resident of Florida.

I feel that Florida can rightfully be used as an example of what happens when a state decides to let its citizens exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.

To tell the truth, it irks me to use phrases such as "when a state decides to let its citizens exercise their 2nd Amendment rights," but I bit my tounge and didn't say so in my letter.

As a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, I am deeply interested in seeing this bill passed. Thanks for the link to Sebelius's feedback page, I have made use of it.

I'm also vitally interested in this bill because I live 3 mi from the KS border and travel there frequently. My own state (NE) seems about to pass our first CCW law. Reciprocity will come somewhere down the line....but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Previously, Gov Sibeleus said she would veto the bill if it got to her desk. She veto'd a similar law last year.

Now she says she's considering it/thinking about it...whatever.

Methinks she see's the writing on the wall and hopefully realizes that it's better to sign it into law based upon the overwhelming vote in the House 90/33 and Senate 30/10 than to have it shoved down her throat sideways by a veto override. I doubt that "the will of The People" is a factor of consideration for her.

Nothing like the near-certain prospect of a heaping helping of crow being served up to make these politico's re-examine their stupid positions.
