So I was in the market for a gun safe after getting my first shotgun about 2 months ago. I have 4 pistols which I generally just hid around the apartment. I figured it was time to get one.
After extensive research I decided that I needed something that wasn't too heavy to put in a 3rd floor apartment, wouldn't break the bank, and from a company with a good reputation.
I settled on the revolution 18 flex from liberty. To be reasonable, I probably would have been fine getting the revolution 12. The 18 and 24 models however feature a flex interior option. This allows you to divide the safe in half and add shelving to the right side. Since I only have one long gun, I decided it made sense to go this route. I got the s&g low profile Titan electronic lock over the mechanical lock.
The safe itself seems very sturdy. The carpeted interior, stitching and shelving are all top notch. An interesting difference between this safe and many others on the market is that this one utilizes what Liberty calls "military style locking bars" instead of the traditional bolt. These cover more surface area around the door and seem very sturdy. When locked the handle is fairly stiff with a little play. The safe also features steel anti pry gussets for additional door pry protection. The revolution series is rated at 30 minutes for fire protection.
For lighting I decided to go with the Liberty Clearview battery operated lights. They come in a two pack and I just ordered a second pack. The lights are very bright. My only critique on them is that when the environment is completely pitch black the lights do not come on. There must be at least a small amount of ambient light for these lights to "see motion". I ended up getting a little battery powered motion light and put it on the wall next to my safe so that light will come on when I step in front of the safe door, giving the Clearview lights enough light to see the door opening and turn on themselves.
Overall, I am very happy with this safe. I was disappointed with how little information there is online about the revolution series as far as reviews go. Hopefully this helps people that were in my position when looking at this safe.
