You opinion of what I should or should not do is of no value to me.
But it is of value to society, the knowledge that a military man, a card carrying gun guy, would deny a mans right to a fair and unbiased jury. How others perceive your flagrant disregard for a fair and impartial jury based on the merits of the case should be important to everyone.

I wonder if your commanding officer would approve of your statements.

Some of you are good with beating someone to death for peeking in a window?
Not at all. The point I was trying to make was that his reaction could have been driven by rage induced by the violation he experienced. It would be no more "right" than the example of a child rapist. It's just easier for people to accept that as it is a much more egregious crime. Just because someone commits a heinous act against you does not give you the right nor exonerate any violence against them (short of self defense). There is nothing in the law that lists out certain crimes for which a person driven by rage can commit a justified homicide. I don't have any idea if that is what he is going to allege or not - I only made the comment as a hypothetical. As others have stated, any potential trial would need to be judged based on the facts of the case.

Hobi appeared at the police station with a lawyer to provide a follow-up statement at her own request. In the new version of events, she said she didn’t hit Akar with a shovel or touch him at all. She said Vickery told her to tell police she had used the shovel.

"Do you understand how hard it is to beat someone to death?” Lave said. "It is a brutal, difficult and violent way to kill somebody.”

Ruh roh, co-conspirators giving false statements, one of them recanting their original story voluntarily giving up the other conspirator within days. I suppose his defense might be he was "naked and afraid". LOL

I'm on the jury and hear this revelation of Vickery entering into a conspiracy to give false testimony, to change the facts? I'd be inclined to not believe anything else his defense atty conjures up to try to explain that away.

All those who've stated they'd give Vickery a pass, what about now? Still gonna give him a pass after the latest revelation from the girlfriend? Biased subjective opinions have a way of biting you in the butt. :scratchchin:

No , I'm going to wait until as many "facts" as possible are revealed than make a disision.

Beating someone to death for looking in a window, or for attacking the homeowner who investigated the noise?

Pretty much every article except for this one has said he was.
Media says he was attacked, was he attacked? We don't know. What we do know is the man wasn't armed with a weapon according to police reports. So two unarmed men get into a fist fight, one is beaten to death by what we now know to be a conspirator with the girlfriend to make false statements.

Not being armed with a weapon is irrelevant. We don’t know that he conspired to make false statements. We know the girlfriend is a liar though because both of her statements can not be true. We know they said Akar attacked him. At least some of us know that. Others who only read this article apparently don’t know that. If Akar never attacked him, this guy deserves a prison sentence. However, if he did attack him, a lot of people will be eating their words.

It’s like, he that heareth, and doeth not is like a man that, without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently and IMMEDIATELY it fell and the ruin of that house WAS GREAT!!!! :yup:

Luckily we can count on both Yahoo and Florida to be completely unbiased when there is a story of a white man killing a minority, right? No reason to even give this guy a trial...

Ah Contraire, the girlfriend recanted her story, coming forward to out Vickery for his attempt to get her to lie about the facts.

Underlined:
Even attacked, he took to beating this guy unnecessarily. How do we know that?, the police recording of the girlfriend yelling "that's enough" or some such to Vickery. Apparently a layperson believed he took the fight to a level that was unnecessary in defense of his person, and that resulted in a death. An eye witness in real time that yelled something akin to advising him to stop, that's evidenced by the recorded 911 call.. NOW, when 12 laypeople on a jury are told of her warning him he'd done enough, and she testifies as to why she lied initially, I see conviction in his future. The tape, the recanting witness testimony do NOT weigh in his favor. And if they can introduce his violence domestic behavior through her testimony, you can stick a fork in him, he's done

And that's exactly how the prosecutor will approach his actions. Want to take odds on who the jury will believe? Her coming forward to recant what she was told to say to responder's and her yelling at him something that suggests he went above and beyond defending himself while on the 911 call? Or Vickery, that he had to beat the man so bad he died to fend him off?

Which story is more plausible to you?

No, they are not.

Florida Demographics
According to the most recent ACS, the racial composition of Florida was:

White: 75.67%
Black or African American: 16.13%
Asian: 2.68%
Other race: 2.64%
Two or more races: 2.54%
Native American: 0.28%
Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.06%

More research, less prognostication

From what all I can see from this thread, it could concern me as to those that think it’s ok for the naked man to be peeking in other peoples windows.

I’d be concerned that the folks that think it’s ok, well....makes you wonder if they are same naked people peeking in other peoples windows too huh?! That’s nasty, but if you can’t get a date maybe this is how they respond?

It sounds like they had a bad relationship. Do we automatically assume she didn’t change her story to get him in trouble? You want to make assumptions to fit the story you want while calling out other people in doing the same thing.

If it were a police officer that someone yelled “that’s enough” to, would that mean they were suddenly guilty of a crime?

What's reasonable to believe is she's afraid of him and knows he's violent. Having had leo's responding a few times in the past for domestic violence upon her. It's completely reasonable to believe she feared for her own safety if she didn't follow his suggestion to deceive law enforcement on the summary of events.

I've assumed nothing, the tape recorded 911 call [ evidence ] and her recanting the original story line later which is evidence [ which was after she discovered they had her telling him that's enough on the recording, then seeking counsel ] along with his prior recorded penchant for violence all suggests all that remains is finding the fork, he's done.

The girlfriend believed he was out of control on the beat down and verbally warned him he was out of control and thus that's "EVIDENCE" he was no longer just defending himself from an actual eye witness. The ONLY eye witness besides the defendant. That recording is going to bury him. Her recanting will bury him, her testimony on the stand will bury him,

Now, if you could, share with us what you believe he has for evidence he was defending himself. Cause putting a boot to anyone usually means that person being kicked with a shod foot is on the ground, not still on their feet and still engaging in a fight.

Yeah, based on their activities that night it sounds like she was very sacred...

One way or another I’m sure it will all come out in court. Until then everything is just speculation.
