Just wanted to post a word of warning for people considering purchasing the Fatboy Versipack for concealing and XD subcompact. I ordered one and it just got here. I love the bag but the bottom line is that the zipper on the concealed carry pocket on the Fatboy Versipack model is too small to easily be able to draw and present my XD-9 SC, even with the shorter 10 rd magazine.
The really good news is that the folks at Maxpedition have been very helpful and have allowed me to send this one back and pay the difference for an upgrade to the Jumbo Versipack, which should give me a bit more room to draw.
I just wanted to post this and hopefully save someone else the trouble of trying the smaller Fatboy model first for an XD. It would probably work fine for a bit smaller gun if you had smaller hands than me. I'm about 6'2" with fairly large hands.
I own a fatboy as well. I didn't purchase it with the intent of using it for concealed carry so I wasn't disappointed when I threw my gun in there for the heck of it.
I chalk it up to the fact that the regular fatboy was simply not designed to hold a gun. My gun will fit into the rear zippered pocket or the large main pocket but drawing the gun is difficult and slow.
Actually it was designed to hold a gun. That is why they have the velcro on the inside of the back pocket. And why they show it with a gun in their catalog..
It was just designed to hold a smaller gun, I guess..
A person with a Kel-Tec P11 and smaller hands would probably not have an issue, I'm guessing.
The fatboy does come with the velcro in place now. You do have to purchase the holster seperately, as I thought you did with all of the versipacks. Does the Jumbo usually come with a holster included?
