On Friday in Portland, Oregon, a 15yr old hoodlum decided that threatening others with an AirSoft gun was the thing to do.

Compare this threat of others with the recent report of someone making threatening statements about his iPhone while carrying a gun ... both of which have resulted in similar criminal charges, that of Menacing and Disorderly Conduct.

Food for thought, and yet another example of the stupidity of people sometimes when they're bored and enamored of the thuggery displayed by 'bangers and other criminals.

Note that citizens on the scene disarmed and detained the thug for police.

Be careful, out there.

Anytime. Anywhere.

Milwaukie [OR] Police arrest teen after threatening citizens with air soft gun.

Milwaukie Police Dept. - 10/02/09

On October 2, 2009 at 12:15 p.m. Milwaukie Police responded to SE Washington & SE 25th, Milwaukie on a report of a man with a gun that was making threats. Citizens reportedly detained the man and after a brief scuffle the suspect ran from the scene.

Milwaukie officers found the suspect running from the scene and after a brief foot pursuit he was detained two blocks away. It was soon discovered that the alleged gun that the suspect had was an air soft pistol.

An investigation revealed that the suspect was on the corner of SE 25th & Washington acting in a loud and threatening manner. When contacted by a citizen the suspect made verbal threats toward the victim and displayed what appeared to be a handgun.

The citizen aided by another wrestled the gun away from the suspect. The suspect fled on foot and was later captured by Milwaukie Police. The corner where this occurred was in front of St. Johns Catholic School, which was placed in lockdown. Across the street was Milwaukie High School. The high school was not placed in lockdown.

The suspect, 15 year old Yevgeniy A. Pavlenko from Oceanside, California was charged with Menacing and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken to Clackamas County Juvenile Reception Center.

No one was injured in the incident. The suspect was not a student at either school and had no relation to the schools. The incident further underscores the danger of air soft guns and the potential disastrous results. The gun in this case was indistinguishable from a real firearm and it was only on close examination it was determined to not be an immediate threat.

Whether it's a real gun or not if the victims perceive it as real and fear for their lives it's the same charge

That is an exellent way to get shot.

Dumb. Really dumb.
We got word a couple of weeks ago that some local Afghan boys were shooting Airsoft pistols/rifles at coalition force convoys....not very bright--we have the capability of shooting back...with real bullets
