Maybe a little historical context is needed. In this link is video from back in ‘21 when Antifa barricaded ICE in their downtown Portland building and set the entrance on fire.

Portland has a history of supporting violent leftist protests. A video in a link provided post #3 shows the absence of local law enforcement coming to the aid of federal law enforcement in a violent clash back in 2021. One example.
The President has deployed the NG to Portland to avoid a repeat of Portlands past support of violent protest against federal law enforcement doing their jobs.
A General of the Oregon NG in the video is saying his mission will be protecting protesters. Who will he protecting them from ? It is being interpreted here in Oregon as he is saying NG troops will be protecting protesters from ICE (Trump).

An interesting situation, at least from a thousand miles away and speaking as an observer.
Has the Oregon National Guard been called up under the state governor's authority, or is this a federal activation of the NG under national authority? Different rules and command structure must apply. I wonder about the problems of deploying local NG units in their home areas, certainly not an easy assignment for local citizens being put on the front line to face neighbors in a conflict area.
We will see how this plays out.

Wow. The woke is strong in that 1 star. I got a hunch he will be sidelined as I do not believe Federalizing the NG is for the protection of a terrorist organization.
Furthermore, for someone in his position to believe that is astounding.

Trump called them up . The Governor and everything else listing hard to port out here is vehemently opposed to it.
So far Antifa is nowhere to be found at any protests. Local news is going out of there to point out how peaceful the protest and city have been towards Ice. The Portland police have arrested protesters who support ICE.
It’s almost like the radicals have been payed to stay in their basements.

As I recall ICE did arrest some of the antifa protestors but the judges turned them loose without bond or anything other than a promise to appear. And when they did appear they got a light tap on the wrist.

Same as blm, if the worst of them got charged, they walked, every one of them. They caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage not to mention the looting and assaults. No one is above the law? That's a fairy tale as far as this country is concerned.
Like I said, they got guns, learn how to use them when they are a deadly threat. Arresting and charging them serves no purpose.

You recollection is accurate. Antifa and their leftist brethren roamed so freely and rioted at will so much it was a major reason why the Proud Boys showed up to fight Antifa and causing even more mayhem.
It’s like there is some kind of collective , selective and very convenient amnesia going on out here.
Back to the Op and with the video of the Antifa attack I posted in mind. Is this General implying that his troops would have protected those violent protesters in that scenario ? What exactly does he mean when he says he is there to protect America and the protesters ? It all sounded a little ominous to me since he was addressing his remarks to elected Oregon representatives and used the phrase lawful orders.

It’s one thing when a State and its cities declare themselves sanctuaries. It’s another thing when state government and law enforcement ignore the rule of law.
It’s next level when armed forces of America choose to support that side.
I’m sorry I posted the video, I was hoping for second opinions that didn’t hear him say what a lot of others from both sides of the fence heard him say.

That is just what they want. ANTIFA is just like hamas. They would love to see federal agents gunning down people in the streets.
They would gladly sacrifice a few of their useful idiots to achieve this. Those idiots do not even realize they are being used as canon fodder.
Remember that POS woman who tried to run down an ICE agent with her car and he had to shoot her to stop. The media made it out that ICE shot an unarmed person. Days later the rest of the story came out but the damage was done.
Now imagine 10-20 "protesters shot. They would be writing songs like 4 dead in Ohio all over again.
