Does anybody have any experience with one of these? Since I got rid of my Norinco UZI copy, I don’t have a carbine in a pistol caliber. I might want to get one of these at some point to go on either a 1911 or Glock 21.

One of those would be good to carry in case of a survival situation. I have seen them on Gunbroker but have never seen one in person. If you get one, give us a review.

Yea, I was thinking it might be good to keep locked in my truck. Quickly turn my carry handgun into a carbine.

I was looking at Mech-Tech but ended up buying a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 in 9mm that takes beretta mags. It\'s whole lot of fun. They come in 9mm or .40 and different versions accept most handgun magazines. It also folds in half. See the Kel-Tec website for more info.

http://www.kel-tec.com/prod03.htm

Bud\'sGunShop.com has them for $238.

Everyone that\'s shot has liked it.

I\'ve thought about getting a Para frame built as a dedicated lower for a 10mm mech-tech. I\'ve never fired one but I have held one, its a lot lighter than my thompson. I dont know of very many options for a .45 carbine, and the mech-tech is the only 10mm I know of.

But for cheap fun, its hard to beat a Kel-Tec. I\'d like one in 9mm that takes Glock mags. 33 rounders...

JT, I noticed your sig, did it get on your nerves too when the Punisher said it wrong?

How solid is it? I was concerned about durability.

I’m not sure what you are talking about. I picked up the quote somewhere and is one I switch out on my sig every now and then. My understanding is it was from L. Neil Smith. Who is the Punisher and how did he quote it?

I had a Mech Tech unit for 1911 .45acp pistols. I very much enjoyed it. It\'s accuracy was un believable. Shot the hottest loads like cake. Wish like hell I still had it. Sold it to help out when my wife quit her corp job to raise out kids.

I was actually refering to the latin. It was said wrong in the new Punisher movie and its just a pleasure when I hear (or in this case see) it right, since so many people say or type \"sic vis pacem, para bellum,\" just like it was said in the movie, which I may as well add was a dissapointment.

Oh, the punisher I\'m refering too is a Marvel Comics character.

Oh ok. I didn\'t even think of the Latin. I always leave it in and change the other part so I thought you were talking that. Yes, I\'ve seen the Latin butchered before, also.

Having handled both the Mech-techs (there\'s two of the Glock units at the local shop that are the owner\'s personal toys) and the Kel-Tecs, I\'d go with the Kel-tec first. For the same price (and you can get ones that take Glock mags for compatibility), you get a second weapon. With 33 round mags available from CDNN and elsewhere, it\'s a no-brainer.

Reliability I\'ve seen a friend blow through thousands of 9mm rounds in his Kel-tec without issue over the last couple years.

Either that or buckle down and get another Uzi. ;)

Ive been thinking about one my self alos like the look of the beretta Storm ... Dont have a beretta though.

Thought a Mech tech would be good for the Glock but they look kind of wimpy and to add on iron sights ya get that funky rail.

In person they're even funnier - the muzzle cover looks like a rubber foot you'd find on a metal cane for the disabled or elderly.

The entire unit, actually, looks like some sort of fancy medical device.
