Much like watching my diet, I’m limiting my intake of news programs and social media. 30 mins a day. I’m not sticking my head in the sand, but I’m not gonna be triggered by the sky is falling. Am I concerned? Yes, but cool heads prevail.

I think the entire leadership of this country and citizens of the country all need mental health treatment. The whole country is going downhill and there is no leadership at any level that appears to be doing anything to stem this downward trend.

Just rhetoric and retorts to the rhetoric from all sides.

No one wants to take responsibility for anything anymore.

This country has hundreds of millions that appear to have a mental illnes.

I'm not worried about my mental health one bit. Now, about the rest of you . . . that's another story.

That's pretty much what I've been doing.

I have decide to not respond to or post anything related to Covid or George Floyd on Facebook.

I am pretty much staying off of FB. MY friends know how to get hold of me by other means.

It seems that mental health is the next item in which we are experiencing shortages.

30 minutes? Either I'm slow as heck, or you're doing something im not. This forum is the only social media I do, other than keeping up with a couple buddies through Facebook messenger. I don't post on Facebook. I don't catch much news on the TV. It takes me a couple hours a day just to try to keep up here, and I'm not even posting that much. I don't even read every thread. My mental health im not that worried about. And I'm glad I don't have to go out in town that often to deal with the nuts. It's bad enough I have to deal with them on the phone at work....

Myself I have had more than what I want to hear of the COVID-19 Panic, I just turn on the news to check on the weather, anything else news worthy and now the current riot status (none anywhere near me). When they start yammering about the COVID Panic I will change channels to something worth watching.

Fer Pete's sake, you guys.

Must be a bunch of youngsters.

Us oldsters well recall the bigger, nastier riots of the mid/late 60s that would erupt in the summer and last for weeks sometimes. That, coupled with the war in Nam made for some tense times.

These riots are a firecracker in comparison and my bet is they'll simmer down before long.

Now, that little corona virus problem? In just 3 months it's already just about doubled the entire toll of Nam. And it's not going away anytime soon.

Id have to agree. Between the killings of Presidents, Presidential candidates, Civil Rights leaders, the burning of National Guard Armory’s, the war in Vietnam, civil rights marches, Kent State shootings, and the riots in the ghettos, plus the hippy movement, and add on top of all that, the Manson murders, and the nuclear threat of the Cold War, and these times are just...entertaining.

I get all my news off the net, from a few sources I trust.

Late last night I made the decision to deactivate my facebook account. Not because of the riots themselves, but because of the people I know and coversations that just aren't worth losing my job over. Id much rather come here, or to a couple other forums I frequent where I can have generally much more intelligent conversations on the various topics.

I unfollowed four of my FB friends, and the leftist outrage porn coming across my feed vanished.

The only thing I've changed is I'm swearing off getting into discussions on COVID or boogaloo here, because there are a lot of people who don't want to discuss things those topics intelligently. They want to get into personal attacks and emotional responses and that brings out the same reaction in me. The incoming doesn't bother me as me feeling contrite for going down to that level myself. That is bad for my mental health. So I will post newsie things on those topics, but not get into arguments.

The news doesn't bother me. In fact I have to check all the local news outlets regularly because I'm a team lead for the new VCDL local watch teams. We are keeping and eye on what our local jurisdictions are doing now that the state is allowing local preemption of some gun laws. I also have a Wall St. Journal subscription, which I like. It is about as balanced as anything I've found, in my purely subjective view. I stay off of FB, but then I never really checked it much before all this.

I agree with @Texas Red. I remember a lot worse situations in this country than we are in now, so I'm not worried. I'm trying to keep busy with home projects and my mid-1800's period band. I have a lot of music to get up to performance level for when things reopen. My hot yoga studio is doing a soft reopening this week, which I am excited about. My wife and I were successfully retired already, so not a lot has changed. Our investments took a hit, but they don't affect our income much. Life is good.

So I don't think I'm suffering any drain bramage.

Id pretty much have to delete everyone who posts on my feed since the only thing being talked about is riots. Even if I delete the race baiters and other idiots, they are all still friends with a lot of other people I know.
