Whats your opinion of the mossberg 500 persuader as a home defense gun?

Great gun. :hand10: I have the 7+1 defender. I bought the tactical stock later though. Keep your eye out for when they go on sale. Big 5 has them on sale about once a month.

I have a Mossberg 590 Mariner (which is basically the same thing because it came with a pistol grip as well) and LOVE it. I mean, how can you beat a 9shot capacity on a 12guage? Done deal!

Mine started out a the standard pistol grip persuader, but I could not leave well enough alone.

I can only say that as a home defense gun... I pity the Fool!

Tough to beat. This thing is compact and easy to handle, but maybe not so easy for woman. The light really works good and the spot shines right on the aim point........

Just about perfect in my opinion.

It is an outstanding shotgun. Not only for selfdefense, but for hunting as well(I got a 6 point buck with mine this year). In either case I would recommend investing in a pistol grip. Carring the 7+1 beast from 5:30 am to 10 pm with out a pistol grip and without a sling SUCKS.

Where did you find the accessory that holds the shells?

Does it interfere with the sights when using in the long gun mode? I've looked at some online that claim they don't but it makes me wonder. I see that GGlass has a modified sight, maybe raised - is that to compensate for interference of the spare shell carrier?

I have one for HD, I like it. It came with full stock attached and a pistol grip in the box but I have never switched it to the pistol grip, don't see the need for it in HD use. I added a light and a sidesaddle and it handles great. I do recommend blue locktite on the screws when adding accessories. First time at the range I shot the light loose. Then I got some locktite. :smile:
