I've posted this rifle on several other forums; so, some of you may have already seen it, but I just like too much not to post it here too.
It's a Marlin 336 in .30-30 that I bought almost 15 years or so ago when I was in high school. I went off to college and left it at my folks place, and it sat in a gun cabinet for a while with no TLC. I was back home one day and took it out to find a light surface rust on it.
I cleaned and oiled it, but the finish had suffered some damage.
I began looking into having it refinished and found http://www.shootiniron.com/ The original stock also had some damge from having been carried in a gun rack in a truck (previous owner); so, I decided to replace the stock as well.
I had all of the surface and the bolt parkerized in black, and I found a Ramline synthetic stock for it that weighed 30% less than the wood stock.
I have it topped with a Bushnell 1.75-5x32 scope with Leupold quick disconnect rings ro that I can get to the iron sights if need be. I also have a 9 round butt cuff on it, and a 20 round ammo belt. I adapted traditional combat shotgun loading techniques for use with the levergun, and I can keep up a good rate of accurate fire.
I really like the setup. It has been dubbed as the ******* Tactical 336.
