I just picked up my CCW Permit yesterday, I'm relieved I have the ability to legally carry now. :)

Congrats...Now your journey begins...Seek some reputable defensive pistol/fighting pistol/combat pistol training. Concealed carry is more than a license in your wallet and a firearm on your person. Seek knowledge, seek training, seek proficiency and above all be safe...Good Luck Sir!!!

Congrats to both of you!

In addition to staying current in your training, one valuable piece of advice I picked up along the way was that if you ever started getting to the point where you were leaving your gun at home because it was just getting inconvenient, then try to find a gun that you will carry. That might mean trading in your 9mm for a .380, but even finding yourself in a "situation" with a smaller caliber is better than finding yourself in that same situation with the 9mm sitting in your safe at home because you didn't like the way it dug into your side or whatever.

A .380 on your side is better than a .45 in the truck.

I'm carrying a full size service pistol for my first year... The way i see it. It will help me work on refining my concealment methods and learn to deal with some of the uncomfortable aspects of packing a big gun. So far i can say it's actually not bad and it all seems to get easier the more i do it.

Obviously having a full size has it advantages.

I reckon when/if i get an XD-S or similar i will be in hog heaven...
