My Daughter wants t get her CC permit in Florida

My daughter (24) wants to get her CC here in Fl. I've recently bought her some personal protection devices, but not a handgun. (Leather/lead slap stick, pepper spray ect.) she wante to be legal if carrying in her purse. I'm sure she will eventually get a gun, but first things first.

Are there any Forums for ladies CC/ personal protection out there where she can get a ladies perspective? Plenty of it here for her also, but you know how they are..

Tell her to also check youtube for info on how to carry. There's a couple of ladies on there that have some really good videos. Unfortunately I don't remember any of their names or links.
She can google Women Of the NRA.It may be helpful to her,or,maybe some links she may want to try.

One is called NRAWomentv..
,but you know how they are..

HEY! What's THAT supposed to mean? ;)
I have two book recommendations for your daughter:

The Cornered Cat Cornered Cat | If you have to fight, fight like a cornered cat. is an excellent guide to concealed carry for women (particularly those who are new to handguns). It covers everything from making the decision to carry and developing the mindset, to selecting a gun, holster, etc.

The Gift of Fear (Amazon.com: The Gift of Fear (9780440226192): Gavin de Becker: Books) is indispensable read on avoiding risk, and recognizing and reacting to what intuition and 'gut feelings' are telling you. The greatest risk to most young women is from someone they know, not random violence from a stranger.

I'm not aware of any forums that cater strictly to female carriers, but I'm fairly certain that Kathy Jackson (author of Cornered Cat) and some others have active Facebook pages.

Hope that helps.

If you haven't already, make sure that black jack is legal without and with a permit.

Lish - you know exactly what he means, especially since it's his daughter
Florida Concealed Carry Forums has all things CC for Florida including a women specific forum. Lots of women contributors with their perspectives on FCC forums.

I highly recommend this book for Everyone ! It is excellent (even if Oprah likes the author).

IMO, the moderators are a bit over zealous on the FCC. I was banned without explanation, and I contacted the administrator and he acknowledged my e- mail, but never another word.

Until she has a CWFL, the sap is unlawful to carry.

Even afterwards, the sap is iffy at best. It's a "slungshot" under Florida law, and unlawful to offer for sale.
but you know how they are..
No, I don't "Know how they are". Define "They".
I think it's great that your daughter want to cc and that you support her in that effort. I know many women who do carry and I think all women should carry if possible.

I am sure if you check with some of the local ranges in your area you will find a few with qualified cc trainers and some may be NRA certified. To my way of thinking training in firearms usage and safety plus cc training is the most important part be it male or female. Many of the ranges offer the required training course required for her ccl but this would be in addition to firearm training.

Best of luck in this endeavor and be sure to let us know how it all turns out.

While trying to keep this on topic, I must say that I have not had any trouble on FCC, nor here on this forum, and I'm not shy about respectfully voicing my opinion. If anything, the administrator and moderators at FCC seem to allow much more "off 2A" discussion and perhaps more robust discussion than on this forum. And, there are tons of good Florida specific info in addition to women's perspectives/issues on FCC, which was what the poster was seeking. At any rate, a new owner took over several months ago so that may address your concerns.
On the internet, The Cornered Cat is excellent.

On youtube, faliaphotography, fateofdestinee, even hickock45 has a video on female carry that is quite informative even if it starts a bit weird.
