I have the Don Hume 001 and the DeSantis Nemesis. However, most of the time I carry my Smith and Wesson 642 in a Mika pocket holster. I have both the round cut and the square cut (round cut gets carried more often).

No matter which holster I carry, especially if the gun has stayed in the holster awhile, it is susceptible to stay with the gun when drawing. To avoid this, I take the gun out of the holster daily and do some draws.

If I am at the gas station pumping gas, I will stick my hand in my pocket and lift the gun out of the holster once or twice to loosen it up.

If the DeSantis has worked well for you, I would just get another one.

Very similar to what I do.
For the purposes I have, drawing from a pocket is utilized as a preparatory action in anticipation of trouble rather than an immediate action when the trouble is occurring.
I grip the handle with my middle two fingers while I use my trigger finger to push against the holster partially separating it from the gun until my trigger finger finds the side of the trigger. If/ when it’s going time Im already there.
I can draw and present very quickly without having my hand in the pocket, but that requires another technique and a lot of practice.

I have always wanted to try the round cut Mica holster. Can you compare it to the nemesis since you own both?
Thickness and bulk mostly.

Just as an interesting experiment I have done a lot of timed draws with pocket carried wheelguns as I know you have.
Hand on gun and the different holsters make very little difference. I find the grip type also makes very little difference in speed if my hand is already on the gun.

What I found interesting is how fast I can draw starting outside the pocket using different holsters and grips.
I find the LCR with no holster and a super smooth grip is by far the fastest out of the pocket starting with hands outside the pocket. By fast I do mean a good hit on target.

The all steel snub is also faster with a smooth hard grip although the holster makes it a bit slower as I have to rub it off the gun as it comes up by pushing it slightly against my leg or front of pocket.

I realize like you the main role of a pocket gun may be a pre incident staging of hand on gun but for me it's often the only gun I am carrying which lead me to try those timed draws starting outside the pocket. I do go tucked shirt enough that I feel I have to practice it since appendix is not an option those days.

Of course, much of that depends on your personal body build and what pants you wear.

Both the Nemesis and Mika are good holsters IMO. You can't go wrong with either one. I think the Nemesis is slightly thicker. You won't see a gun outline with the Nemesis, but it will look like you have a wallet or something there. The Mika fits my jeans pocket better. I like the round cut Mika over the square cut. It blends better.
Everybody's body shape and pockets are different, so it can be very subjective.

I ordered my Mika holsters on a Thursday afternoon. 30 minutes later I got a call from Robert Mika himself. Great guy. We BS'd for about 15-20 minutes. The holsters came about a week later. The lead time might be different now.

A couple of years ago I was at a gas station pumping gas. I was carrying my now sold Smith and Wesson 9mm 2.0 Compact. A guy who looked to be a plain clothes cop pulled up to the pump across fom me. He looked at me and gave me a nod because we were the only people there not having our heads buried in our cellphones or staring at the advertisements on the gas pump screen.

I hear about so many of you who pocket carry, but I just can't seem to take to it myself. I've tried it and I must have some really small pockets on all my pants. I mean I can get the gun and holster to fit, but it so bulky in my pocket, I feel like it prints though, and I just don't like anything that heavy in my front pocket. I've even tried carrying a Kahr P380 which is very small. I can't for the life of me imagine walking around with a revolver in my front pocket. I must be doing something wrong or I've just odd.

If you like your DeSantis Nemesis, you could simply buy a new one.

I use a Blackawk Tecgrip size 3 pocket holster. It's the same size and shape as the Uncle Mike's size 3 pocket holster. But the Uncle Mike's only has the textured strip. The Blackhawk has the sticky texture throughout the body of the holster, so it's more likely to stay in my pocket when I draw. I also take a small crumpled up wad of paper towel and place it at the bottom corner of the pocket holster opposite where the barrel sits. That way, the bulge in my pocket looks more even and rectangular, resembling a thick wallet. I like that the holster is flat on the sides, which helps to hide the shape of the gun and look more like a wallet.

I had also tried a Safariland model 25 pocket holster. It did a god job with concealment. But the holster rubbed off some of the finish from the frame of my 442, so I stopped using it. Since your gun has a stainless steel frame, then it should be okay.

Different people have different levels of tolerance for particular things. Mine is a bunch of stuff on my waistline or a holster the size of a text book down the front of my pants.

I have it down to about +/- 1.5 seconds from the go to the bang, and can get good hits out to 5 yards; without hand in on the gun.
Most of the week, I too must have a tucked in shirt.
As they say, necessity is the motivator.

Pocket carry my Ruger LCP Max always. the holster wasn't 'holey' or deteriorated in any way but was 'loose' and had really lost its shape. Picked one up from the Ebay and its OEM so maybe I'll get another two-years out of this one.

I have always hated heavy bulky things in my pockets and I have used a small credit card sized front pocket wallet for years because of it.
Took me a very long time to get really used to pocket carry and I started with the original LCP and then the Beretta Pico.

What really got me back to pocket carry was I developed a constant dull pain carrying appendix and had to take a break from it for awhile so I bought a Kel-TC P32 for pocket carry and then a LCR in 22lr. The P32 is 10 ounces loaded and the LCR is just under 15. When I discovered Duluth trading co. firehose cargo pants that made it much easier.

I am now these last few weeks carrying a 25 ounce stainless steal 38 snub in a front pocket and it works very well but again it took me a long time to get used to it. I have carried this gun a lot since I bought it in 1994 so it really is the best move for me to carry the gun I shoot the best and have the most confidence in. I also keep a folded cotton bandana in the outer cargo pocket which helps hide the bulky shape pretty well along with a soft holster.

I ordered my first holster from him a good 15+ years ago. Immediately got a call telling me that he would be slow getting me the holster as he just got an order from I believe the FBI for a couple hundred holsters. Recieved my about 2 weeks later. So he is a little slower these years but he is not as young as he was.

It depends on the brand somewhat I think. I grew up only wearing jeans, and noticed Wranglers have a lot deeper pocket than Levis. I had a .38 6 shot offhand and barely felt it in there, but then again, I was ordering them a size larger from carrying IWB anyways. Prior to that, the same pocket had 2 13 rd G21 mags in it side by side, so there's a decent chance the 38 weighed less.

I actually was kind of kidding about the pockets. I wear pants with deep pockets. That creates a little different issue. I feel like the weight of the gun is making the whole setup move around with every step I take, every move I make :D. See what I did there? It's like the faster I walk the worse the whole thing feels regarding the moving around. Like putting a bowling ball in a pillowcase and swinging forward and back.

The grip of a snub is going to be easier.to draw than any semi no matter how small it is. I think it has to do with the shape. I often carry either a j frame or a glock 43.

To the original question an Aholster backbone is what I use and the hooks prevent it from coming out with the gun
