Well, it looks like the IRS is gonna be kind to us this year so I'm looking into picking up a Colt. Need some input on a few prices you've seen or would consider good deals:

First - and the most attractive option - is a used Colt Combat Commander: 95-98% cond, SS, .45acp. I know of two at different shops, I "think" they're both 1991s but one might be an XSE, I'll have to check. Both are in the $450 to $550 price range, on consignment so I assume prices are firm. Sound reasonable? This would DEFINITELY be for carry so minor finish prob's aren't a concern.

Second - NIB blue 1991 Gov't. (.45acp): Would see occasional carry time but only if my primary Mil-Spec is out of commission, being tweaked and such. What prices are you folks seeing?

Third - NIB blue Series 70 Repro: Mostly a safe queen, damn they're nice :yup: . Again, what prices are you folks seeing?

That's about all I'm really considering, unless I find a really nice deal on a Delta Elite. Appreciate any input you folks can offer.

$450 to $550 for a SS Colt Combat Commander would be an excellent price around here. For a NIB (NRM) '91A1, $750 would be a good price and $750 for a Series 70 reissue would be very good.

Thanks guys, I think the prices you mentioned would be the high side of what I'd consider. Forgot to mention, I'd also be interested in a 9mm Hipower if I came across a decent deal. Fixed sights for carry, other than that I'm pretty well open on options - I'd have to remove the mag disconnect safety though.

Use to see a lot of used Hipowers at the local shop but lately there haven't been many around. Any particular models I should avoid?

I also agree with OD's price assessment, especially on the Series 70. Just for reference, I can't get a new Series 70 for that price, and my boss usually sells them to me for ~$30 above cost.
