I went CHristmas shopping with my son today. I do have a CCH permit, My kids know I carry, so we play a game when we go shopping, we always drive by the front entrance where we are going and they and I look for a gun buster sign, if we dont see it we go in if we do we dont. We went to Toys R Us, we didnt see the sign, so we entered, the first set of doors, then while going thru the 2nd doors on the top corner of the slideing door there in writing was no handguns allowed, actually i didnt see it till my son noticed it after we got in the store, for some reason he turned around and looked at the door and say the sign. Is that a legall posting at the entrance or not, I took my chance and went in and got what I wanted I never shop there but they had what my daughter wanted and it was on sale.

That is not legal signage for Kansas. Smile to yourself and go right on in. The Kansas AG site has the law on what is a legal sign. Jim Macklin, #1 KSCCW refugee, can tell you a lot more.

#1, huh?

The law says the signs must be the AG approved sign and it must be conspicuously posted. So far the AG has not issued a precise rule of just what is properly posted.
Concealed Carry - Kansas Attorney General

http://www.ksag.org/files/shared/concealcarrysignage.pdf

"(d) Each sign shall be displayed in a manner that makes the sign reasonably
likely to come to the attention of persons entering the premises."

Hopefully, soon, the AG will issue a rule that requires a standard location at eye level and within a foot of the doors, every door.

OP..."there it was in writing" means it is not even close to a legal sign, no graphics.

That is what I thought, but just wanted to refresh my memory, mostly for my son, being 12 years old, he is real interested in the CCH but not old enough to carry, but he gets to shoot. So I include him in everytime I carry and let him know where it is on me and he knows how unload it and also shoot it if something happened to me if we were somewhere, just never know so I look at the big picture. That is just my on opinion some people are against letting your kids shoot and handle firearms, but I am not I believe in the whole famliy knowing the saftey and how to handle a firearm safley. Thanks for all the inputs

I agree 100%. I have a 2 year old so I'm not about to let him handle my firearm but when he gets older I am for sure going to inclde him when I clean it and take him shooting when I can. Like G.I. Joesaid knowledge is power, or something like that.

I don't care if the posting is legal or not.

Do you want to support a business that wants you disarmed? You can get the plastic toys elsewhere.

Gun Buster at Toys R Us

Thank you,
You have asked the same question I have wondered about for quite a while. I live in Ohio and our Toys R Us uses the same sign. And like you I ignore it and go about my shopping and hope I don't have to explain my Kel Tec P11.
