I found a used Armalite AR-10 for sale (by consignment) at a local gun shop. It had been priced at $1450.00 for months but had been repriced at $1200.00. It was a flat-top, 20 inch free floated barrel, with a 5 round mag and completely finished in a camo (it looked to be an Advantage camo design). It caught me eye months ago, but the price warned me away. Now I am wondering if it is worth a second look at this price.

So questions for Armalite owners... Did the camo finish come factory equipped from Armalite or was that an add on? Should it have had at least a 10 rd mag too? If I decide to pull the trigger (pun intended) and get this, where is a good place to find AR-10 mags cheap? And finally, is this a fair price on this rifle? I would trade a Ruger Mini-14 in on this as I have 2 AR-15s in 5.56/.223 already. Sorry but I didn't get an exact model number. I will call Monday (they are closed on Sundays) and get that.

Thanks for any input!

My AR-10 came from the factory with two 10 round mags. I bought a 20 round for $125 back in the Clinton days and bought a couple from the factory back in January for $45 each plus shipping. It took them several months to get them in stock and ship them.

I've not seen an Armalite in camo but that doesn't mean they don't do it at the factory. You can call the factory to find out. I know they have black and green furniture, or at least used to, as factory finishes. Mine is green with stainless barrel and it is a very well made weapon. Worth every penny IMHO.

The specific Model of the AR-10 was an A4 with an 18 inch barrel. I found a couple of different websites about used gun prices. One site that said that a standard AR-10 A4 in like new shape would be valued at $1050.00 and then the other said to add $150.00 for the camo finish. That brings the total right up to the asking price of $1200.00. I will just have to figure out how bad I would like to have it and then figure what gun I trade in on it because I sure don't have $1200.00 laying around in the couch cushions at home!

Don't do it! If it's not a Colt, it's crap "Scottish accent". :nono:

Enjoy, that looks like a nice rifle and from the original AR manufacturer. I have yet to shoot an AR-10, but would love to.
