Call Animal Control. Most places require dogs be either within a fenced yard, on a leash, or inside. The dog is TRESPASSING!!
Started a paper trail, I'm also a Animal lover but would not hesitate either with any dog with my wife, newborn and my self.Start a paper trail now with LEO/Animal Control so that you are on record as complaining should anything happen. Why not try some "passive" repellent around your property? I think you can buy some scents that you place around your home to discourage wildlife. A few bucks of repellent could save a bunch of hassle.
I have exactly zero patience with dogs around my kids. I'm a dog lover, but that doesn't mean I won't shoot one.
Perfect answerI had that problem once, with one of my neighbor's dog,in my yard.I made up my mind,if the dog even looked like he was going to bite anyone,i would shoot him.I decided to call the cops and suggested they may want to mention to the owner,"Leash Law".That said,i don't know about Texas laws, obviously.
I wouldn't hesitate to shoot the dog if I ultimately had to, but I don't want and legal issues with the law either. If I can if he attacks me ten I will. I'm going to get some pepper spray tomorrow.Perfect answer
I agree with most of it but what you kinda of saying is let the dog attack me and bite me, or even worse my wife or kid. Not a chance.I am an avid dog lover, have two rescue dogs, and have visited many neighborhoods, dog parks, and other dogs and people... With little to no incident, and they are both young, male, assertive, 70lbs+ working class dogs. And I carry most times when I'm with them...
I'm sorry, but I simply can't imagine what circumstances that would warrant shooting any dog. Maybe if one was viciously attacking a child, but that is about it...
As the most domesticated animal on the planet, dogs are largely a product of their environment, breeding, and handling. If you've got a nasty one on your block, shooting it, beating it, kicking it, is not the way to go.
It probably isn't the dog's fault, but the lack of responsibility of the owner is , and the dog shouldn't have to pay for it with it's life.
I'd approach the owner in a calm and respectful manner, explain the concern, offer suggestions, and if all else fails, DO reort it to animal control and/or the police. An out of control animal of any sort should be reported and accounted for, even if it really hasn't done any damage (yet).
The owners need to be responsible, but the dog shouldn't executed for the lack of it...
If you are looking for an excuse to shoot something, look someplace else. Be smarter and more responsible than the dog or the owner. Regardless of what the laws say you can or can't do....
Sorry, but I simply have to advocate for dogs n this case.....
