Has anyone heard of a company called SKYY? If so, what's your opinion. I saw their new 9mm, the CPX1 today at a local gun show and was very impressed, especially for a gun selling for $220. Looks a lot like the Kel-Tec or a Taurus 24/7. The company has a new website at... http://www.skyyindustries.com/index.html.

Hmm, no .380 avalible yet? Their web site doesn't have much info, and the message boards are not all that informative as to specs.

Let Me Make Just One Suggestion

If the SKYY turns out to be a decent reliable firearm & you decide to buy one.
Remember that just because the firearm is GOOD that does not mean that the Company will last forever into the future.
Sometimes a new Gun Maker will NOT make it very far into the future for reasons OTHER than the quality of the firearm.

SOOOOOOOOOO..............If you buy one & LIKE it....please buy all of the extra magazines you think that you'll need right away!!!
You might not be able to get them later on.

Made in USA!!!

One thing I noticed that I liked is that they are made in the Good O'le USA.
So, I wish them good luck and hope that they can come up with some nice guns and make it big.

So Keltec owners don't like it? 2 sides to every story. How bout some input from anyone who owns one or both of these guns?
I own a Kel-tec P11, I like it and trust it, but I'm not fanatical about it. From what I saw, the Skyy doesn't offer any improvement over the real deal. It's a shame really, why copy someone else's design but not offer anything better or different.

Keltec is made in USA also, and has a fantastic reputation for customer service.

We had some discussion about this on the Rohrbaugh forum a while ago - lot of varying input and thoughts (sorry, no link to hand) but one of the guys there has got himself one and I am waiting to read some feedback sometime.

I reserve judgement for time being.

I decided to buy one of the CPX's today. It does look a lot like the K-T P-11, even on the inside. Then again, a 1911 still looks like a 1911 whether made by Kimber, Colt or SIG. It should be easy to find holsters since it's very close to the K-T and Taurus Millennium Pro in size and shape. BTW, I also own a K-T P38T. It's just like the P-11 only a bit smaller. I'd do a comparison of the SKYY vs K-T, but it would be an apple/oranges thing. While they look a lot alike, they are of different size, weight and caliber.

The CPX-1 seems to be well made, user friendly and will be easy to conceal. It's made in the U.S., so there won't be any import problems. It came with two magazines and the expected external trigger lock. It also has the ability to fire without a magazine in the well, a good feature in case you loose a mag or need that one shot. As was suggested earlier, I'll order another magazine or two from the company ($25).

From what I can tell, it will be a nice regular carry gun if you like 9mm. It's no bigger than most 380's and soon, maybe, will be chambered in 40 S&W. When I get a chance to take it to the range, I'll post a report on how it shoots. For now, it seems like a good buy, especially for just over $200 (MSRP is about $290).

WorldPax: Don't believe everything you read/hear. Especially considering it's coming from KTOG!

Anyone who thinks it's a P-11 clone doesn't know what they're talking about and probably hasn't even seen/shot the Skyy CPX-1. Tight fit and smooth trigger out of the box. Feeds reliably and shoots tight groups, especial for a compact carry gun. Stainless steel frame rails and slide and it's easy to take-down/re-assembly. It's does everything that Kel-Tec failed to do, has done it better, and has done it cheaper. And after all, how many real innovations have there been in the gun industry during the past century?
