Here's an article for you . . . Kinda sad really.

New Bond: I hate guns
By This is London
25 October 2005
Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.

The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.

But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."

Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.

"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.

Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan.
He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.

The movie is due for release in November next year.

Craig is not the first Bond to reveal a hatred of guns.

Roger Moore, who played the superspy from 1973 to 1985, said after quitting the role that he hated "that awful pose" of Bond with his gun which has become an iconic movie image.

The actor later became an ambassador for children's charity Unicef and declared: "Today I am completely opposed to small arms and what they can do to children. I played every role tongue-in-cheek because I don't really believe in that sort of hero. I don't like guns."

I don't think this guy is going to make it as the new James Bond. He's too scruffy looking for one thing. He may not like guns but like most Hollyweird types he is willing to make millions from using them in pictures, then turn around and tell us peasants how guns are bad.

Well - he must have Brady genes! Lost cause.

Typical whingeing, whining, gut emotion pathetic statement - one of many we get so used to hearing. How to be simplistic - and get it so wrong.

Further thought has me thinking - yes - HYPOCRITE.

If this guy is so anti gun then let him stay with his conscience (if that is the word for such absurdity) and NOT take the part . At least then he'd be behaving with the strength of his convictions - instead of being lured only by the mighty dollar.

I might almost respect that.

And as long as fingers are around, people will poke each other in the eye. That doesn't mean you ban fingers, that means you punish the moron who did the poking.

I was really hoping we'd have a good James Bond after all the crappy James Bonds. Good grief, he can't even get the Bond drink right.

I shudder at the thought of this man holding his eeeevil gun like it's a dead mouse.

Sounds as bad as Stallone. Guns are bad, but I make millions off using em(incorrectly) in movies.

Just yesterday I was telling my wife (who enjoys guns and shooting) that every guy I've ever known, except one, enjoys guns, shooting, and assorted weaponry. It's in our genes. Then along comes the "wuss" of the week from the entertainment world. Where do they get these guys? They sure don't come from my gene pool.

I think he'll be just as successful as Timothy Dalton was. Seems both of them want to make James Bond a PC character. I still think Hugh Jackman (Wolverine in X-men , the lead in Van Helsing ) would've been a better choice, though I don't know what his political beliefs are.

Well, I don't know what his views on guns are, but I think Pierce Brosnan was the best Bond so far, although Sean Connery was hard to beat.

If you wanted to boycott every movie with hoplophobic lead actors, you'd probably never see a movie theater from the inside. Being against guns is so popular these days, that a person whose income depends on popularity can hardly afford losing an audience of, say, a million moms and their friends and families.

BTW: Does anyone know what Brosnan thinks about guns?
