I know the AK pistol is pretty high on muzzle flash etc and is probably very much a close to medium range gun - perhaps a bit the same for this but hey - I am interested - vewy intewested indeed.

I notice they quote 5.56x45 NATO and .223 Rem so - tolerances re chambering must be broad enough to accept everything I guess.

Bob - check out thru your sources can ya and see when this baby is gonna hit the stores - assuming it is not yet released.

Kel-tec lists muzzle velocity at 2600fps, Out of a 'standard' length barel, .223 should be somewhere around 3300fps. So yeah, you could get more out of this round in a longer barel. Same is true of .357Mag when comparing a 2" snubby .vs. a carbine length rifle.

In reality, I'm sure it'll be a real flame-thrower :p

I'll be the first to conceed that this is not a _practical_ general purpose weapon, but having shot an Olympic .223 pistol, I'm sure it'll be a _fun_ one! Weighs almost half of the olympic .223... and costs about half, as well.

According to ktog, it's available now. Some of the accessories (muzzle brake, etc) aren't yet available. It's really just a SU-16D9, with a pistol grip (and no NFA SBR tag required)

I predict this will be junk. I don't see a real use for it. It seems they are riding the wave since the ban has been lifted. I don't know. My dad has a small keltec .32. It shoots every time. You definitely would not CCW this, ha, ha

Well I was just thinking that without 16" of barrel, will 5.56 or .223 for that matter fragment? If not it's like shooting a hot .22 Magnum at someone...

But it's probably not meant to be practical.

"Hey Bubba look at this..."

not too practical for 5.56 mm performance. Just about the same as an AR pistol I would guess. This seems more like a range toy, just like an AR pistol.

Per the ammo oracle over at AR-15.com, a 55grn fmj will tumble and frag down to around 2700 fps (85 yards out of an M4) and the 75-77grn hollowpoints will work even better (2300 fps, 105 yards) so this should work well as a short range self defense weapon, not even counting the flash burns.

Having said that, I think Han Solo wants his blaster back!

Attach a Crimson Trace VF-302 laser-grip on that front picatinny & put a 30 rd mag in it & you've got a pretty compact urban warfare gun. They say the action is very reliable.

practical or not, i'm probably getting one of those for two reasons. #1. it'll drive the anti's nuts. #2 it'll be FUN,FUN,FUN. apologies to the beach boys.

Isn't that barrel too short to really make use of the round it's chambered for, or is that one of those folk tales I should recognize by now?
If you're intending to engage at 50 or 100m, sure.

At shorter ranges, I don't want to be in front of someone with one.

As an owner of one of the Bushmaster Carbon pistols, let me rephrase that - I don't want to be directly to the side of someone shooting it as it'll knock fillings out with the concussion. ;0

Well, the retail price is attractive...even though it's constructed entirely of molded polymer. It IS nice and simple in its construction. Ammo would be pretty cheap.

For me...I think I would rather put my $$ into a "Stock AR" & then customize it to suite my exact fancy. That would (for sure) make better use of any 5.56/223 chambering.

I like it....but, then again...I don't. :chairshot

Honestly, I could see myself buying one for the "Initial Cool Factor" BECAUSE...it IS Cool Looking as Hell......and then a few months later wondering WHY da Heck I bought it & WHAT da Heck it's really good for....or what "job" it would really do well.
Just my opinion.
