870 Police followed me home yesterday, thanks to gift from wife for Christmas. Just curiousity here, has anyone experience (for fun) with any of the exotic ammos, such as incendiary, pepper spray, etcetera? ATG has a variety available, and it is tempting to try some out for 'kicks'.

Congratulations on your Christmas gift! Exotic ammo for the shotgun? No experience here. Maybe fun, but personally, I think my money is better spent on regular ammo and practice. Oh...it's intriguing enough to want to try some just for fun, and I've seen what's available. I just wonder how well the exotic rounds would treat my shotgun. Know what I'm sayin'? I have fun just shooting the regular stuff and testing myself at the range and maintaining my firearms. I really like the pattern of #2 steel shot out of my 870, but it tends to score the barrel a little bit (no worry). That's about as far as I go with testing my hardware. I want to maintain it, not fix it. You've got a top of the line shotgun for your intended purposes....take care of it, and it will take care of you. Just my opinion. I by no means intend to be a party pooper.

really why I posted in this instead of the Ammo forum. It is really about whether the 'exotic' stuff does any damage to the gun. I have ordered some quality double ot buck, but enjoyed looking at the exotic stuff, just wonderin'.

But, btw, does your 870 feed Fiocchi, and Federal buck ok? I have not fired the gun yet. I have a few more days of impatient waiting before I can get to it.

I did however order a 9 round box of the Rhodesian Jungle ammo. It looked like it could be impressive.

Thanks Ram Rod.

I have shot some bean bag ammo out of mine before....

It was free and cool to see how much plywood it would go through...
The only time would use it again was IF IT WAS FREE.

I like the real stuff a lot better.

EDIT: No damage to barrel by the way..
