Cheaper Than Dirt is advertising run of the mill 115 gr 9mm PNC for $69.69 PER BOX OF 50! This is unconscionable! Add shipping to me and that comes to over $85 per box. Bulk Ammo is selling the same load for $39.35 per box, also outrageous, but Cheaper Than Dirt? Come on...! Time to change your name.

I love that movie.

Back to the subject at hand. I literally just called one of my three local gun stores and they are selling RE-MANUFACTURED 9mm at $30 for bag of 50. I was aghast. I guess I'll practice with my EDC guns sometime next year.
Just remember who tried to rip you off when things settle down.

This same company jacked up pmags right after Sandyhook - before the cost to them could have gone up (so it wasn't a response to their cost increasing). They are opportunists, and if idiots will pay, they'll take advantage of them. I'll never shop there again - either online or in their McKinney store.
Just picked up 115 gr 9mm WWB box 100 for 32.95 at my local LGS.
Price gougers CTD will never see any of my $$$ when this all settles.

- I lucked out. My LGS had a plastic box of CCI Blazer (350 rounds) for $100 yesterday.
I got 200 rounds of .45 (230 gr FMJ WWB) this morning at Walmart for $82. I've always looked down my nose at Walmart but their reasonable ammo prices have really impressed me.

CTD can go to hell.

CTD outdid themselves today: "9x19mm PMC Starfire SFHP 124 Grain 20 Round Box Starfire Hollow Point 1090 fps 9FSB Our Low Price: $89.19"

That's $4.46 per round BEFORE shipping. For that kind of money, I'd expect an IR seeker head or loiter capability!
I actually stopped into their retail store in McKinney yesterday for the entertainment value and because I wanted to stop at Whataburger at the same exit. Their shelves are totally full with literally dozens of boxes of various types of ammo in every common caliber. Prices are the same absurdity as online (plus tax) and the staff are like a bunch of used car salesmen. Their gun cases are packed too, the prices on handguns aren't too inflated but anything AR related is gouged to the moon. They had a stripped AR lower being sold for $699! HAHAHA!

I wondered around taking phone pics of the crazy prices to send to my friend, the store manager noticed what I was doing and didn't say anything but was clearly watching me and was not happy at all, like I give a fu..err hoot. The worst was one of their slime ball salesmen telling an older lady there by herself that the PMC hollowpoint .380 they were selling for like $79.99 for 20 were the best ammo in the world etc. I was this close to saying something but realized that if she is gullible enough to 'get sold' that easily then I can't help her.

Just got the snail-mail Mailing Catalogue today.......... Wife looked at me with :gah: when I picked it up, and I tossed it in the 'circular file'. Wife had a :danceban: Oh So Sad, Too Bad for CTD!

Who is the CHD Rep/Member here on DC? You all might want to send him an IM............................... Just Saying.

Note: I have always had great customer service from CTD, but, this crap is way over the top....... = I'm going elsewhere.

Harassing members or sponsors because you do not agree with them (their price, product, opinion, etc) is NOT appropriate - IMO.

If you disagree, that's fine, but promoting the harassment of others on DC should not be allowed, or tolerated, by members or admin.

If you don't like a vendor, go elsewhere.
saa.
I have learned that every time i say "now i have seen everything" someone shows me something new. Be careful in your use of that phrase.
The biggest problem is that people are actually paying those prices. If people stopped paying outrageous prices they would start to go down. I have noticed that my previous go-to online stores are starting to back off a little...still outrageous, but lower.

Personally, I've never liked CTD. Sometimes you could find good prices but by they time they figured their shipping charges, there was nothing cheap about it. Watching them mark up prices to insane levels through out this whole ordeal has only reenforced the thought that I will never buy anything from them.
I am not privy to the inner workings of CTD but, just (in general) everywhere in the country what we are witnessing is the Law Of Supply & Demand at work with regard to ammo prices.

One alternative would be government setting ammunition price controls ala Communism.

Exactly what some ammunition retailers are doing NOW is EXACTLY what some folks (who are hoarding ammunition) hope to do later on....IF the Shlitz Hits The Fan.

Remember all of the people HERE on Defensive Carry that have said that people cannot eat Gold and Silver but, things like ammunition, cigarettes, & booze will be the new currency?

Ammo will be JUST LIKE GOLD!!!

AKA - Bartering and I'll trade you two 9mm bullets for six cans of soup...one tube of NEOSPORIN and three Snickers bars.

Again & Repeat....I have no idea what is going on with Cheaper Than Dirt and their listed ammo prices. Is it possible that they are not getting the ammunition that they have for sale right now directly from the manufacturers?

Possibly they are buying ammunition from some secondary suppliers who are charging CTD inflated prices? I have absolutely no idea.

BUT, they are a business and what usually happens in the American business world is that consumers shop around for prices and if the prices on one item are too high at one location they buy that item from a different location when they find a lower price. That is the way we have always done our shopping as American consumers.

If folks NEED an item and can't find it anywhere they usually will pay the higher price but, they sure will not like it very much but, hopefully they will be happy that they at least found that necessity item at any price.

That is the way it has pretty much always been.

If it was her Birthday and all that your young Daughter (who just got all A's on her report card) wanted for her Birthday was to go to a Justin Bieber concert (heaven help us) and the Justin Bieber concert was completely SOLD OUT and there were no tickets available but, one person in the newspaper CLASSIFIEDS had two Justin Bieber concert tickets for sale for $300.00 - it might just be worth the asking price to see your little girl absolutely overjoyed and ecstatic.

As far as Cheaper Than Dirt is concerned if you can find a deal there on an item then buy it. If a price is too high on an item then go shop elsewhere.

If you are absolutely hurtin' & need a certain ammunition and you cannot find any anywhere else....and you absolutely need it...then buy it there and pay the higher price.

Welcome to America and American Capitalism. :usflag:

Just had an idea, if anyone lives in/near McKinney or Fort Worth, how about you pay them a visit and leave an upper decker in the restroom? For those who need clarification:

Guess I'll be practicing a lot of unloaded draws and other non shooting[ unloaded] excersises for a while.
