Purchase - Glow-On

Friday, April 13, 2018. 12:00 AM

24 hours more and we can call it a weekend!

And we have something new this morning.
An incredibly simple solution, anyone can do this.
It looks futuristic even.
Who needs three dots anymore really, here it is:

Watch this space, later today we will disclose the rest of the photographic session.
Different color combinations happened!

In the meantime please share with friends.

Let's take a look at the Glow-On bead on the rear post.
A simple horizontal mark made with GLow-On Blue.

The front post we cover completely with Glow-On Yellow.:danceban:

A couple of new perspectives:
Glow-on Blue on the rear and Glow-On Yellow on the front.
This is great especially if your eyesight has some limitations, like mine.

We created a square notch frame for accuracy.

We placed Red on the front.
Which is a very popular combination Blue/Red.

Most gunsights are plain, simple, no markings or, with white dots.
they are simply functional.
Then why so many colors?

People respond to colors.
We use colors in traffic signs for a reason.
Color-coded manuals and signs at the subway station, points, and roads on a map.
Heck, even newspapers stopped printing with just black ink a long time ago.

If this is something you can agree with, keep watching this space because we will continue to make the case for colors on gun sights.

Why all this?
Because this might be you eventually.
Trying to protect your family from some perceived threat outside your home.

Now, if home safety is not an issue...Why a dog, why a fence, why motion activated lamps and cameras.
why smoke detectors, why CO2 detectors, why fire extinguishers, I have four, never had to use them, fortunately, but If I did, they're there.
Home defense is a layered system and the last layer is you and whatever plan you have to ensure the survival of your family...

SAFETY FIRST!

Never change your lawnmower blades without disconnecting the spark plug first.
If your stapler is jammed never use the tip of your finger to check it out.

Take your precautions.

Safety first:

Jeff Cooper's Four Rules:
1-All guns are always loaded.
2-Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3-Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4-Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

While you follow the previous rules religiously.
Before you perform any maintenance on your firearm.
Perform a safety check, in other words, render it harmless.
Accidental discharges happen.

Never let anyone else perform this action for you and never perform this action on somebody else's firearm unless it's absolutely necessary.
Check your firearm manual before you proceed.
If you don't have a manual visit the manufacturers' website and download or print one.

-Remove everyone else from the room.
-Remove magazines, clips, open cylinders, open shotguns to remove all ammo from the firearm.
-Open actions, slides, bolts, cylinders and such, check first visually, then with your pinky finger three times, to make sure the chamber is empty.
-Remove then all ammo from the room and now your firearm is basically a paperweight and you are ready to proceed.
-A five-gallon paint bucket full of play-sand works great as "clearing bucket" point your firearms into it when you perform a safety check.

It can still hurt you, but you'll live.
Never assume anything, the morning news is filled with the names of individuals who assumed too much.

Purchase - Glow-On

Back to Glow-On Colors:

So the blue mark w placed on the rear looked good but we decided to add to posts so now we have a square notch.
The front sights are Yellow, we covered the whole post for maximum visibility.

Now we don't believe in any 'gun sights orthodoxia", everyone is different and the idea that the same solution fits everyone is basically an argument for control.
Flexibility is a key to survival.
A tree will be uprooted by a tornado, but the perennial grass will stay...Perennial! Lol!

We went 'freehand' on this one, no masking tape to block straight angles, no trimming, nothing, pure free hand.
Just to make the point that it's easy and it's is an efficient method.

Let's evolve now.

We leave the Blue on the rear gun sights for a while and we focus on the front post.
Let's change colors.

Glow-On Pink center stage!

More of a "process red", for those acquainted with printing processes.
A "magenta" for those experts in graphic arts.

Here the whole ensemble...

This evening there was the smell of grass fire in the air, so I came out to check it out...
The fire was miles and miles away.
I left my handgun in the shed while I talked to the neighbors about the fire.
I took a snapshot:

I took a snapshot of the atmosphere as it were...It was pretty thick.

Now we switch the color on the front sights to Glow-On Red.
Again, we cover the whole post generously.
Can't mp[hasize this enough: Apply it generously.
Instead of several layers that can get messy, just build a big bead of paint:

Faster sights, great visibility, it saves brain cycles.

Moving on...
Sunday, April 15, 2018.

We keep the Blue on the rear sights and proceed to use Aqua on the front.
Glow-On Aqua is white in daylight and it has a soft blue afterglow.
As we progressively dim the lamps down, we can see the blue afterglow takes preponderance.

We still have A Blue square notch outline on the rear and aa Aqua color front post.
Each time our goal is to make our handgun's gun sights faster, more visible, easier to use.
We did this all free hand, using just the small stick provided with each vial.

In fact, there are other commercial houses exploiting this very concept, except you have to replace the gun sights and then they don't go in the dark.

Let's look at this set up from a couple of different perspectives.
Again, as we dim the lights down, there is a transition, which is one more goal here.
Glow-On won't let you go into the dark "cold turkey"

Same solution, different perspective.
Shooter's perspective.

A powerful yet affordable option for firearm aficionados.

For about ten bucks a small vial.
One vial is good for several firearms.

Moving on...
We remove the Glow-On Aqua from the front sights and proceed to apply Glow-On Green instead.

Glow-On Green has a bright green color in daylight and a nice green afterglow.
