"Meyerle is patenting a design for a modified cartridge that would be fired by a burst of high-frequency radio energy. But the energy would only ignite the charge if a solid-state switch within the cartridge had been activated. This would only happen if a password entered into the gun using a tiny keypad matched one stored in the cartridge."

'When they are sold, cartridges could be programmed with a password that matches the purchaser's gun. An owner could set the gun to request the password when it is reloaded, or to perform a biometric check before firing. The gun could also automatically lock itself after a pre-set period of time has passed since the password was entered."

password-protect the ammunition itself.
I found a good sale on .22 bricks, can you program these 2000 rounds for me?

The system would undoubtedly cost more than a conventional gun
Ya think? A gun and ammunition with programming?

but many firearm enthusiasts would surely pay a premium for such added security.
Ummm...methinks I disagree. Who is going to spend thousands on a gun that could just as easily be stolen as a conventional gun?

<Sigh>... Some liberal is going to pick up on this and think it's a great idea and then we'll have something else to fight against.

GREAT!!!!!! now if we can just password bad guys with the universal password ( i am assuming here thiese super bullets will need a passworded entry portal too ) it will take all the steam out of the aimed fire / threat focused fire debate LOL

There are way too many people with far too much free time on their hands to just sit around and dream up this silly BS.

Hey guys:
This is probably an invention to loosen up ownership responcibility in Germany.

Remember their chancelor (back in '34) managed to register every civilian fire arm... This is probably an attempt to loosen some of their ammo possesion restrictions.

Kinda getting away from the Keep It Simple method, huh? I want as few moving parts or opportunities for failure as possible in my weapon. Can someone put together a Six Sigma project on this?

Sorry. Hungry. Must scavenge for food.

I can see it now...

"Please enter password"

"Are you sure you want to shoot?"

All of you who think lasers and red dots that need batteries are bad ideas, wait until your gun and ammo need them!

will these "guns" have red tips on them? because they sound like toys!!

If your gun needs batteries, you're shopping at the wrong store. Exit Toys r us and go to a real gun store. I'll only buy one if it has a bad guy homing bullet feature. Garanteed not to miss or your money back!!!(minus s/h of course):laugh2:

If it fails you have to hold the safety, decock, and mag release down at the same time.

Forget subcompact, how big would the bullets be? Actually if they use cellphone technology, they would probably be smaller, and do everything but shoot.
