If you had no guns, and SHTF, economic break down over night.
Which is pretty much how its predicted to happen.
I don't mean an economy slowly getting worse, I mean the stock market dropping 2,000 points, then 2,000 more the following day.

Everything falls to hell within a week, what do you do to get guns?
You try to go to your local gun shop, but the smart folks got there before you, and whats left he double or tripled the price on.

what do you sell in order to come up with the money?
he's only accepting gold or silver for guns and ammo maybe.

What do you think the majority of non gun owning americans will do if total shtf and they need to be armed?

I think anyone who waited that long is out of luck.

Some still won't realize they need to be armed. They've lived in condition white so long that a dose of harsh reality still won't change their minds. I don't know what they would be thinking since I don't understand that mindset, but they'll be complaining about something... probably that we need more gun laws to stop the armed gangs who are roving.

Some who truly recognize the threat may run for the hills to escape. But due to their life of unpreparedness, they will have no supplies, no extra gas, no stash of cash prepared for such an emergency, and no real plan.

Others may barricade themselves in their homes and hope nothing happens--the head-in-the-sand approach that has worked for them up to this point.

Some may try to beg a gun and ammo from someone they know is armed.

If they still have electrical power, they'll be blogging, emailing, and calling someone to share their hand-wringing.

Note: none of my neighbors know I am armed. If something like this happened, I would help some, but not all, and I make no apologies for that. I can't save everyone, so I'll have to make some decisions on which families to help.

Decisions already made.

I can tell you one thing... I'm not giving/loaning any of my guns to those who were too foolish to prepare beforehand.

And especially those who thought I was an idiot for having so many guns and those I tried to tell that trouble was brewing on the horizon.

Now if Grady is a little short on ammo or supplies... He can hang with me any time!

Thank you, Sir, and the same to you!

But I have a feeling neither of us will be short for awhile.

Previously I had posted that I would not share with any neighbors, but then we got to know a family next door who has treated us very well. I mentioned to them once the reason we don't get involved very much in the neighborhood is because of concerns we would be targeted due to racial issues. This family said, in no uncertain terms, they found that unacceptable, and they would stand with us.

So yeh, I'll share with them. They have 5 kids, and I've been here when most of them were born.

But the other neighbors who have treated us like crap... they better think about heading west.

Someone messes with me, I have the option to forgive them.

Someone messes with my family, I'm going to ruin their day.

Is that what they mean by "SHTF"?

how its predicted to happen.
Who predicted what, and how is it supposed to go down? To what extent do you depend on the 'prophets'?

Sell? For what? Cash? Forget capitalism and exchange of money. "Money" will be nothing for what you'll need. You are talking about financial collapse right? Forget "money".

What do you think the majority of non gun owning Americans will do if total shtf and they need to be armed?
Need to be armed? Need......that's a word I have trouble dealing with sometimes. Human beings need water to survive. I need a new television. Take these two statements as an example. What folks need happen with circumstance mainly in those terms. "When the need arises" for example. That's it in a nutshell. 'It' (whatever it may be) is only 'needed' when the time comes for most.

What do I think of the majority of non-gun owning Americans will do if the SHTF?
I could care less actually. They've made their own decisions in the past......they'll either live with them, or they'll die with them, plain and simple. Since they don't own guns now, I know they have no backbone...therefore, I know they won't be resorting to crime and mischief in order to get weapons they "need", since they didn't have basic survival in mind to start with. These types would even be squeemish to take a gun off a dead body. What could they do? In the semi-suppressed part of my brain, I know what might transpire, and it's nothing but evil, and I can't say here. I have no compassion for those who won't take care of themselves within means....when the SHTF, I cannot afford to.
What do You think they should or would do? When the SHTF, you'll need to think about you. If you don't, then you're screwed. See you on the other side.............maybe?

Foolish un-armed people are not my problem.

I've got enough (and then some) to take care of my immediate family.

Everybody else is on their own.

I would welcome you with open arms into my neighborhood Grady. Of course ya gotta build cause there ain't to many houses (only one) within a half mile of me.

I have enough weapons to do all from protection to hunting big and small game. The problem lies with the people from populated areas migrating to the country to lay claim to the land and anything else they need when the SHTF. They will do whatever to whomever to get it. I would most definitely team up with my neighbors for the safety in numbers affect

I have what I need, that being said, some things I can not do, 1 is to butcher, but I know a neighbor that does that quite well, what I can do is keep the lights on, keep the water running, keep the fridge cold, I have the ability to do many things, so I would barter, and we could keep several families going for several months if needed.

The true "city" folks would have a hard time coping, but I think we could get by for a while if needed.

I must say that in a situation like this, my compassion for others would be greatly tempered by the realization than anyone who doesn't own even one gun has probably hindered my 2nd Amendment rights in the past. Think about it. To be completely gunless most likely means that they:

1. ...vote for the likes of Obama and Kennedy, those who trample our rights in every way possible.

2. ...are probably of a very liberal "Government/Police will save me" mindset.

3. ...wouldn't hesitate to have my gun(s) confiscated so that "we could all be safer" or because it's "for the benefit of all."

Don't get me wrong; yes, I care about my fellow man, but when the SHTF I have two little boys to protect and that's my #1 priority. Those who refuse to fend for themselves can, well, fend for themselves!

That's generally the way I look at things.

I think in a SHTF situation a lot of anti-gun people will have a change of heart. Some will be out of luck, others will find ways of acquiring weapons. Guns will be dropped by wounded/dead people. People who have died will have left guns in their homes. Gun stores will be looted. People will improvise weapons.

I enjoy reading apocolyptic novels like The Stand, Swan Song, and World War Z (those are my 3 favorite). They're fiction, of course, but I find it interesting to read the various portrayals of how people respond to these situations. There is a lot of similarity in them.

I have a slight head start at this point. I'm armed and I have family who are better armed. I have thought already about what would happen if something happened in my area. Dont think it qualifies as a zombie plan, but it's a start. When I get my CC perm. I'll be one step closer.

Yep. This has actually been proven during the LA riots. Many people rushed to the gun stores trying to buy something to save their lives, only to be told that there was a waiting period (I *think* California was 21 days at the time, but I'm not sure).

I'll guarantee you that many, if not most of those same people had been supporters of "reasonable gun control" (oxymoron). I can just hear them going, "...but....but....I only wanted to keep guns out of the hands of those BAD people!!! And...and....the politicians said it would make us all safer!!!"

I'm already taken care of. I've got my good friends armed now, growing collections and even bigger amounts of ammo.

Each of us have homes in critical areas where we could move around all within the same county depending on whats going down.

I know what I will do. I'm just trying to figure out what those hordes of people without weapons will do. So I can best prepare for their actions. I guess I know what they might do ultimately, and I'm prepared for that.

Now I'm just working out a plan for having to move out of the area and various safe zones off the beaten bath within the state and up north and west.
