I just shot some PMC/Mirage 28ga shells. They apparently contain some kind of plastic wadding that has coated my bore and does not want to come out with a bore snake & hoppes. Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? I'm half tempted to soak the bore with gasoline. Oh and anybody looking for cheap 28ga shells, don't use these ones! :hand1:

Maybe try breke parts cleaner? It is powerful, yet shouldn't hurt the barrel(or bluing).

I'm not sure break cleaner is safe on blueing, could be wrong though.
Yeah.. brake parts cleaner will clean anything from anything especially if you don't want it to. Stuff that you want to remove on the other hand will stay stuck as it normally does.

Brake parts cleaner is good for grease/paint some silicone stuff (but it has to be undried silicone). Blueing? I'd be very worried about it with it.

The higher up solvents.
Lacquer Thinner would be good. Acetone would be a good one to try also. MEK is a plastic solvent.
None of the solvents will hurt the bore but, just be sure to run an oily patch through there right away as they will remove all traces of oil & the steel will not be protected from rusting right away.

+1 on Ed's Red, Lacquer Thinner and, Acetone they will do the trick but be sure to oil the bore. Use these outdoors as all are highly flammable and an acclimation of fumes could cause a fire/explosion.

Another option is "Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner" it is non toxic, non flammable and works!

I would (and have) used Tetra. Heat your barrel with a heat gun/hairdryer, and run a soaked patch through- with the plain ol' lube. Let it sit an hour or two, make sure the bore is wet, and heat it again. Stuff will slough out. Tetra eats Loctite Red like candy, too:gah: !

i'd say that with the right persuasion, PMC will have the gun cleaned or provide you with the funds to purchase your own cleaner....

Sorry to hear that happened to your shot gun...

we use acetone in the lab at work to remove plastic reisue for petri dishes....
however, not all plastics are created equal, so it may not work...
Good luck
