I am well satisfied with the Vedder Light tuck Kydex holster and a Better Belt USA belt for my new S&W 642 revolver, However, I am looking for a holster for pocket carry for those times I just want to slip it into my pants pocket.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a pocket carry holster for this little gun?

The pocket holster I use for my four pocket carry guns is the Sticky brand. The 642 takes their MD-5 model. I have tried some other brands, but did not like them as well.

The Desantis Superfly has worked well for me. If you ever wear thin pants and printing is an issue, the removable flap on the holster gives it the shape of a phone or wallet.

its been more than a few years......but one problem i did encounter with holsterless pocket carry was the front serratred sight of a Smith snub wearing a hole right thru the pocket and eventually the pants material.....

nowadays, the pants i choose have bigger pockets and the holster keeps the gun from shifting around on me....perhaps not a huge problem with a snub......but definately a problem with the derringer or 25 auto and their reduced dimensions...

I keep seeing threads praising fabric pocket holsters, but unless you've tried a really good Kydex such as from Alabama Holsters you can't appreciate the difference in security, pocket orientation, and ease of draw that they provide. Some advantages of the Alabama: the Kydex is incredibly thin and can even be made to fit the curve of the leg so no printing; the hook is rigid so no chance of failing to retain it in place; the thumb push pops it right off the gun while still in the pocket; it allows immediate full grip with no chance of pushing the gun down too far or tilting it wrong in the holster; the square bottom keeps it positively oriented in the pocket; and it can be made to cover the mag release button, particularly important for left handers who can inadvertently pop the release on a soft holster if the hip bumps something. Unless your budget leaves absolutely no alternative I don't think that fabric holsters no matter how supposedly "sticky" are the best choice.

Before y'all get your chonies in a bunch about an uncovered trigger; this is a revolver. It is not a striker-fired hair-trigger groin blaster. This holster has been doing a great job at it's main mission of keeping the gun upright in just about any pocket. Got it off of eBay about ten years ago, and don't know the maker.

By the way, that Hogue bantam is a great no-snag grip for the 38 LCR.
