I came to the forum to post this link. Maybe it will show some of the more hostile posters on this forum that everyone in blue isn't the enemy they imagine/want them to be.

Good job of reporting on this Dave!
I am willing to bet that the majority of medium to big cities more than likely have an agenda, and it goes against what 99.9% of what the police and gun owners believe.
They( the Bloomberg crowd) are dismissing this information as we speak.

Interesting. I've already shared this with a number of off-forum people I know. This article contradicts a number of comments I've seen that come from white house and administration officials that claim that law enforcement generally favors greater gun control.

Thx!

I have not met a street cop in the West anyway who thinks that the Obama plan is a good plan. They think all the anti-gun crap is just that....crap.
I frequently talk to one SPD guy who just rants about gun control boobs.

The Bloomberg bunch,,what the hell do they know? A bunch of illegal mayors out to get guns.

It is very nice to see something that is contrary to what large city Police Chiefs would like you to believe. This is much more consistent with the statements you see coming from various Sheriffs across the country.

Duh. The administration, read Obummer, LIES. He is a Socialist & to him the end justifies the means. The man will lie, cheat, steal, do anything required to further his goals.

He wants, no needs gun control for him, or his successor, to declare martial law & become "president for life" in his/her Socialist Utopia.

The only thing that would make this article interesting or new is if it were published on CNN or MSNBC.

All the LEO types I know seem to agree on one thing. If a really violent thing happens and a citizen cannot or will not take care of themselves, they are just there to fill out the paperwork when they show up after it's all said and done.

To me the most important part was:

PoliceOne Gun Control Survey: Cops support simple, straightforward solutions

PoliceOne Gun Control Survey: Cops support simple, straightforward solutions

In reviewing the survey data, it seems that America’s law enforcers put little faith in the effectiveness of proposed gun-control legislation

SNIP

Taking the enforcement of restrictive gun laws a step further, 62 percent say if they were a Chief or Sheriff they would NOT enforce the new laws. This question garnered an “unsure” answer of 20 percent, but a shade fewer than 18 percent said they would enforce such statutes.

Wow.

The other standout takeaway, cited both by Ron Avery and Dan Marcou, is our overwhelming belief that the best defense against gun crime and mass shootings is an armed citizenry. A whopping 91 percent of those polled support concealed carry by honest/screened citizens.

Big thumbs up for private citizen CCW, big rejection for bun "buy backs,"

Good news, & I too am against bun "buy backs" ... big waste of our tax dollars, & usually stale by the time local officials get their "buy backs" organized. IMO

This just proves what I thought all along - there are alot of the"Boys in Blue" who have common sense and are supportive of legal citizen carrying concealed. Then you have the certain percentage who have some other agenda or are against CCW. I look at it this way - If an Officer confronts me I will follow his instuctions without question and cooperate in any way I can. However, if he is abusive, confrontational, or otherwise out of line I have no problem talking with his Chief at a later time. If that doesn't work the offending officer gets to talk to my attorney. That said, I would estimate 99% of the time the officer does the right thing.

BTW - All you LEO's stay safe out there and check six..

PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives

Got a email for this earlier. Thought I'd share. Interesting survey results from Police One.

PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives

Small Snippet:
In March, PoliceOne conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation's attention in recent weeks: gun control.

More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in the survey, which aimed to bring together the thoughts and opinions of the only professional group devoted to limiting and defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.

Totaling just shy of 30 questions, the survey allowed officers across the United States to share their perspectives on issues spanning from gun control and gun violence to gun rights.

Top Line Takeaways
Breaking down the results, it's important to note that 70 percent of respondents are field-level law enforcers — those who are face-to-face in the fight against violent crime on a daily basis — not office-bound, non-sworn administrators or perpetually-campaigning elected officials.

Most normal and logically thinking people look through the same set of specs when it comes to things like, who shouldn't have firearms or how the rights of the good people should be defended. The results don't surprise me a bit knowing that these are the people who deal with the best and the worst of our society. They have a pretty good handle on what would help and what wouldn't.

Heck, the White House has even said NRA members are in favor of more gun control. They have said just about everything one time or another.
