OK here goes
I got the 40ve yesterday morning.
I've found a number of things already does that make me smart or especially dumb lol

The grips on the sw are very rough on my side leaving visible chafing so the first thing i learned is that i have to wear a t shirt tucked in while carrying iwb i guess.
The question then would be what about summer time?
Different holster maybe i seen one that is soft like the one i got but it comes up high on the body side of the weapon

I'm going to have to practice like crazy to get a good clean draw in a tight spot since i seem to have to fumble around trying to get the proper grip while drawing the weapon.

Again i wonder about a different carry rig ?

Maybe leather for a more positive positioning on my body
any help (as always) will be greatly appreciated
p.s. i love this place and i to want to go to the grey room

The IWB holster I use has a piece of leather that outlines my gun keeping most of it off of my skin eliminating the problem you speak of. Got mine at http://www.TuckerGunleather.com
ssssthesnake,

Be careful drawing, especially learning; many have shot themselves.

It'd be a real good idea to get someone to teach your a proper and safe draw.

You do need a good holster. IWB holsters are by nature closer to the body than OWB holsters, but with the right holster it should be reasonably comfortable - at least for a while.
iv been practacing with my weapon un loaded lol did learn a few things in the marine corps but that was all from a kdey tactical rig this concealed thing is all new to me thanks for the help to every one

That's good. But consider that if you don't learn right, you'll be practicing the wrong way. That's not to suggest there's just one way, but there are many incorrect ways and they can lead to an accident.
+1 Tangle is right. First right then fast.
It sounds from your post like you may not have had intensive training on drawing & presenting a pistol from concealment and delivering accurate, fast shots. Please do yourself a favor and get some good training on this. Since you're in CA, look on the web for a cheap certificate to Front Sight's 4 day Handgun class. You can probably get a class certificate for around $100-$200.

Trust me on this, you will NOT regret getting trained at a good school. it is time and money well spent.

stryder,

I concur 100%! And, I've heard lot's of good stuff about Front Sight.
on your holster.. i live in sunny fla. it gets downright hot here.
i got burnt almost by my gun because i work in the sun sometimes.
i ordered some holsters from k&d holsters, with a sweatshield on them. it covers almost the whole back of the gun and protects your side from chafing, gun digging in, plus keeps the sweat off your gun.
kman's a member here so he or one of the other holster makers here can probably help you out. call or email them and tell them what you're looking for.
yep look at the Kd holsters with the sweat shield
Practice, practice, practice.... and then when you think you have it down 100% and can do it with your eyes closed, practice some more!
thanks iv been lucky enough to have a combat instructor at chico rod n gun club that certifyed me for my ccw already booked some instruction from him as i understand front site is in so cal or am i wrong on this?ty for the advice and agree one hundred percent being a marine im a firm beliver in redundant traing sweat in training ect... this site is great that you guys are willing to help a new guy so much thanks hope to contribut to some one else some day to would like to do some traing in several ranges so that i can get lots of difrent styles and then adapt them to my person ty agine
I use underarmor under a t shirt for chafe protection. sounds like you are getting some training too, good job.
I've found that for most people, chafing goes away after a few days of regular carry.

It's like getting callouses on your fingers to play guitar with.
