Problems Carrying a Kimber Ultra Carry II at work

8062 Views 32 Replies 30 Participants Last post by  Easy8
Hello, so I work in a grocery store and we are required to have our shirts tucked in(polo style) we wear an apron. and its too hot for a jacket.
I am 6'4" 240lbs.
People have said not to use an ankle holster, but how else can I carry the Kimber at work??
Please help.

p.s. Shoulder holster wont work with the uniform.

First off, Welcome to the forum.

As for your question, have you tried a IWB tuckable holster? There are many different manufacturers of quality tuckable holsters.
Have to agree with archer on the super tuck. You could try a belly band as well....
I will research tuckable holsters, but could you give me a rundown on how they work.
Thanks, I appreciate the help!
Browse the thread under Holsters, lots of Pic's different pistols carried all over the body.
You will find it very interesting.
What you need is a smaller gun. I'll trade a p238 for your Kimberly ultra carry. Nice and small for you. In all seriousness though, I wear tucked in shirts and use a kangaroo carry holster. Best holster I've ever used. I can make a full frame 1911 disappear.
I second the notion against ankle holsters, you have to take a knee to get the gun, which you may not have time for.
There is no way possible that you'll be able to conceal that Kimber. I'll be glad to take it off your hands. Always ready to help someone in need, I am.

(I'm the second one from Milwaukee looking for a handout, lol)

Looks like you need to buy a pocket pistol.
he leather holster part fits next to your skin or undershirt, there are two belt clips which are formed like a "V" . One side of the "V" is attached to the holster on the opposite side of your skin and the other side of the "V" goes over the top of your belt, then your shirt tail goes OVER the gun and gets tucked into the "V". If you pull your shirt tail up a little bit and "blouse it" nobody can even tell that you are carrying.

As stated get a good IWB. an MTAC would be nice. You may want to add thin grips, it does make a difference. Anywhere from the 3 to 5 o' clock position should make it disappear YMMV.
My fav is the Galco King Tuck. It has a thicker horsehide backing that other similar style holster do not. The thickness adds a ton of comfort. When I have to go tucked and I want all day comfort, I go Galco. Here is a pic of me with my Pro Carry 2 (your Kimbers big brother) and you cannot see it at all.

By the way, if it helps I am 5'11" and about 210 in those pics. I have a bit of a gut extension these days!

I daily wear a White Hat Maxtuck. Its great, and the gun disappears with it. Even a full size pistol under a fitted tshirt is no problem.

As for tucking a shirt in around it... If I had to do it every day. Id look elsewhere. Nothing against the holster itself, just against ANY of the "tuckable" holsters of the type. There isnt enough room to tuck the shirt down around it, so it just bunches up. Not my thing. If I had to do it every day, Id probably go with something like the belly band (and a smaller, LIGHTER gun in the first place) so that there is nothing attached to my belt. This way, I could tuck in my shirt like normal.

So its nothing to do with printing, just the shirt bunching up between the holster and your pants.
hey, thank you everyone for you're help. I think I'm going to get a few different holsters and try it out. it sure is nice to post on a forum and actually get some great feed back!
oh and the owner of the grocery store said its my constitutional right to carry my gun!

The owner of your grocery store is awesome. Do you work in the meat department? With the knives and your gun I don't think anyone would be bothering you :p But seriously, I second the tuck and say screw the ankle.
