Hey guys and gals,

I just wanted to get your overall impressions of the quality of LaserMax internal laser sights. I am currently saving up for one to add to my XD-9 SC and I was talking to a guy at the gun store down the street and he was telling me that he had seen people who had trouble keeping it zero'd in when using it regularly at the range.

Can any of you give me your impressions? I know a few folks have made some comments in other threads but I hoped to get a few comments specifically about quality, the ability for the product to stay on target under heavy use, and what the service might be like if you have an issue.

If you have one and you comment here, please include the following data points:

1. What gun do you use it with?

2. How many rounds do you think you've shot with the LaserMax in place?

3. Do you usually remove it before a heavy round of range shooting?

4. Does it have any impact on the way the gun feels when you shoot it?

5. Have you had any problem with the springs?

Thanks so much for your help!

1. What gun do you use it with? ~ GLOCK 36

2. How many rounds do you think you've shot with the LaserMax in place? 1,500+ or - some.

3. Do you usually remove it before a heavy round of range shooting? NO

4. Does it have any impact on the way the gun feels when you shoot it? ~ NO

5. Have you had any problem with the springs? ~ NO

Additional Comments:
On the GLOCK pistols the ON/OFF switch is very small...it works fine but, it is small.

Battery Life is Very Good.

Each unit is tested & burnt in for 100 hours continuous ON before it leaves the factory.

Actual laser life is probably thousands of hours.

All internal parts are fully bedded AKA completely sealed in Epoxy resin.

Any necessary additional parts are equal to or of higher quality than the OEM parts.

Downside: they are (of course) expensive.

Send in your warranty card ~ Chances are very good that you'll never need it but, you have got to mail it in.

I believe that the warranty is only for the original owner so...don't buy a used one and expect them to replace it free of charge.

I have shot one in the Colt 1911 also & it was just fine w no function related problems.

I'll probably buy one for my SIG eventually....or go for the Crimson Trace.
Both are very high quality but, (of course) you are paying a hefty price for that quality.

Do I LIKE having it installed in my GLOCK. Yep, I do like it as it's very dead on and the pistol functions as well with it as without it...so that's cool.

When I get a Laser, it's going to be the CT grips. I tried one of the LaserMax products and not only was the button an "unnatural reach" for me, it was a difficult push and the effort pushed the sights significantly out of alignment. I much prefer the grip as the actuator as in the CT product. I'll probably get the new product for the add on to the Glock M27.

The GLOCK On/Off Switch

It takes some getting used to but, like anything else is fine once you train with it for a while.

The On/Off switches for all other firearm models are significantly easier to operate...in my opinion.

Trust me.. If Crimson Trace offered a model for my XD-9 SC, I'd definately consider it instead.

But they don't...

1. What gun do you use it with?

Glock model 23

2. How many rounds do you think you've shot with the LaserMax in place?

Have no idea

3. Do you usually remove it before a heavy round of range shooting?

No

4. Does it have any impact on the way the gun feels when you shoot it?

No

5. Have you had any problem with the springs?

Not with the spring, but did have a problem with the unit not wanting to work following a range session of about 300 rounds using my regular street carry ammo.
E-mailed Lasermax, they responded right away. Their thinking was that the battery cap would have to replaced, so they sent me one. Got it in just a few days, replaced the old one and the unit worked fine again. I would give their customer service very high marks !

Anyone else have comments, good or bad, about LaserMax products?

Has anyone here tried their new model for the sub-compact XD?

So your unit stopped working but, your pistol continued to function...do I have that right?
