Just a quick question to see if anyone else has had this problem. I carry a XD 9mm in an Uncle Mike's Kydex paddle holster. When I was removing it with the gun in it the mag. was ejected. It seems somehow the mag release became engaged. This is the second time it has happened. The first time I am not sure what movement I did but the second I watched it happen. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't wear Kydex but regardless I would throw that thing in the trash!

You will die if this happens when/if you need your CCW and the mag pops out when drawing. Once would have sent it to the trash for me.

Ti, I agree, I am in the process of deciding IWB or OWB leather. It just struck me as very strange. the Kydex is made for this model and I wondered if it was just me.

I get the impression that Fobus and Kydex rigs are profiled very tight to a gun's sillhouette - so can only think that there was pressure already on mag release in the rig.

Otherwise is mag release spring tension a bit weak.

could try a lil trimming and filing on the holster around the mag release area.
otherwise as was said before...trash it for "duty" carry...not reliable.

keep it for range work if ya wanted to but not for life and death reliability.

just my 2 cents.

Or put the heat gun on the mag release area and push it out a bit. Kydex is very easy to thermoform.

It sounds like there is a little confusion. It reads to me that it doesn't release on a draw, but when he takes the holster off with the gun still in it. This isn't as big a deal as on the draw. Either way, you can cut, heat, trim, file around the mag release.

UNLOAD gun, then hold in hand and wiggle around a bit and see where/what is hitting the mag release. this is your target area.

Good catch Jar, I missed that till I got to your reply,

I have a Uncle Mikes Kydex Paddel also, I have to remove the gun to remove the holster because I have it set so tight on the retention. Otherwise, while parcticing, it's my regular rig. Easy draw. no problems yet.

Just to clarify, I wear it in the same position as my usual IWB carry format, It works well in transition from practice to carry, My current carry does not allow reholstering, I'll remidy that shortly.
