2 part question here, I was wondering from my fellow Kentucky members here how many business you encounter that have some sort of signage out stating you cannot carry a weapon i.e. gun into there business? I was also wondering how many of you especially since we are an open carry state worry or care if your gun prints through your shirt while conceal carrying?

I was wondering the same thing. The only places in my area that don't allow firearms are the banks and post offices.
Owensboro madisonville area of western Kentucky. That could very well be true for here as well honestly I have just like just got my cc and started carrying and wasn't sure how restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and applebees and Buffalo Wild Wings and places such as Walmart and the like felt about it. Honestly just never paid attention to signage since I never carried open. I know all a place will do is ask me to leave if they see it printing through my shirt but still

Well, I've been "asked to leave" (escorted out of?) businesses well-before I was concerned about the legal angles of concealed carry. To me, it's simple. I don't carry concealed weapons anywhere that being "outed" can permanently cost me the ability to carry concealed weapons... ANYwhere! As for a commercial businesses' restriction? First catch me & THEN we'll...discuss it. :image035:

I'm in Northern KY, Fleming/Rowan/Mason County (Live in fleming, work in mason, grocery shop in Rowan LOL)

The only places I ever see posted no weapons are the hospitals, doctors office, a Gas station by my house is posted, and that's it. The only places I don't carry are the places that will land me a felony.

As far as printing goes I don't concern myself much with it unless i'm at work, or in one of the places posted no weapons.

I live in extreme SW Virginia and travel occasionally to Pikeville, KY and have made quite a few trips to Lexington, KY to UK Lexington Hospital. Of course the hospital is posted. I've been to Texas Roadhouse in Pikeville and in Kingsport, TN and neither one of them are posted. Like others stated, unless it's some place that'll get me a felony, I don't worry about it. Concealed is concealed, if done right, you won't worry about printing. Just keep your mitts off of it and don't be adjusting it.

Yeah no I will never carry to a school or government building or anything like that I'm thinking more like the Walmarts and Targets and dollar stores and places such as that and restaurants that have bars inside them like fridays and applebees o'Charley's and the like. I don't fully understand this portion of the law either.

"Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense beer or alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to that purpose;"

As far as printing goes, when I carry around 3-4 the grip of my gun does print some and is obvious to me looking in the mirror of course I know exactly where to look but idk how obvious it would be to others. I've had some gun people around here see me and say omg your printing you need to do something about it and then some one else see it and tell me something like dude this is Kentucky you can open carry so who cares if you print.

Spark, you misunderstood or I explained it poorly. I've been asked to leave/escorted-out of businesses for issues that were NOT handgun related. Singing tequila-generated Christmas Carols...in July. Thinking someone else's date was...my date. Friendly fisticuffs that strangely became...contagious. Someone ELSE thinkin' my date was...their date. You know, rough & ready, rowdy ******* kid's stuff. I'm MUCH more civilized, uhhh...now.

Yeah, I don't worry much about signage unless I see a metal detector.

Never worry about printing though I doubt many notice either way.

You need to really know the law. In some states, you can enter restaurants that serve alcohol but not sit in the lounge/bar areas. Basically anywhere a minor cant go. Signage has nothing to do with that one...you need to be aware of it if you live somewhere where that is the law.

Simply put, if you're carrying and you want to eat in a place that has a bar section and a restaurant section, stay out of the bar section.

*only exception - The 'Cats are playin' hoops and the BIG screen is...in the bar. Then go lock your pistol in the car. :biggrin2:

I'm in the Louisville area, and I only really worry about printing if I'm going someplace I really don't want to get made in like a concert or sporting event. Otherwise my normal carry methods (which are pretty solid anyway) or open carry are fine by me. A "No Gun" sign on a place not prohibited by law may as well not be there.
