I have a small canister of Peppergard OC spray. Also got one for the wifey. I've never tried it to see if it works or how far it will deploy. My question. Do you guys "practice" shooting your OC sprays?

Yes, you should. You should know how far it sprays etc. Also, the nozzle can get clogged. Just make sure you don't spray it into the wind.

The only time I've practiced is with some expired stuff. In one instance I was very impressed (I think it was Fox) and didn't like it at all when the wind got some back onto me.

In the other two cases the propellant was insufficiently active and the dang thing wouldn't even spray 3 feet. (Junk bought off the shelf at Academy).

Agreed with Sixto.

I tested mine when I first bought it to be sure it _worked_ and the nozzle sprayed properly.
Also to as he stated know exactly what spray radius (droplets) and distance as well as spray force is to be expected.
Additionally I sprayed it into wind to visually see how quick/slow and far the droplets spread.

I also fired it off camber to either side and upside down too.
Why?
Because stuff occurs. :|

I check the nozzle on mine every week to wipe away collected lint and dust like crud, which almost always is there.
