UPDATE! Range Report Glock 29 W/ 357 Sig convBBL

I got to shoot my Glock 29 10MM with the 357 Sig Barrel conversion I bought about a month ago.
First of all, the weapon shot with NOT ONE HICCUP and NO FTF or FTE, even though the 357 Sig rounds were shorter than the 10 MM rounds!!.
Tell ya something, if you were to ever think of a more complete conversion, then this is probably it!! I shot 200 rounds with the drop-in .357 Sig Barrel. NO noticable felt recoil, with using 125 Gr JHP or 147 Gr Ball ammo. I believe this is mainly due to the heavier Glock 29 slide and recoil buffer system. I'm sure that if you converted a G22 or G27, to a .357 Sig, you'd REALLY feel the difference, due to that frame/slide size and weight. I'll post a complete report on Saturday, along with complete pics and my findings.

ranger report Glock 29 to 357 Sig UPDATE

Ok Guys
Sorry for the delay in my report, but two days of handling all types of weapons at the store, really tired me out you know how that goes huh?
Here’s the “full skinny“ as Chris put it on the Glock 29 in 10MM that I bought a couple months ago, and the EFK Precision .357 Sig drop-in conversion barrel I purchased for the paltry price of 49.95.
If you go to Topglock, they sell for 149.95. This BBl was “used” but I think it was rather a special order that was never picked up by the customer, and was just waiting for me to buy it.
So, here I am, taking it to the range last Friday night, with 200 rnds of 357 Sig, Win 180 gr white box, Fed Premium in 125 Gr JHP, and some old stuff I have laying around the house.
I put 10 rounds thru the G29 with the 180 Gr Winchester (first pic) which I needed to get accustomed to. I must say at this point, that the 180 Gr Winchester was LOUD and FLASHY. The recoil, however, was in my estimation, about the same as a low power 9MM, most mainly due to the weight of the slide of the G29 and the recoil buffer. I fired the weapon, as fast as I could with the Winchester, thinking it may hang, due to the length of the case in the 10MM mag. NOTHING, not one FTF or stovepipe with this baby! I fired the rest of the box, sharing it with two friends of mine who were VERY interested in trying it. (They currently have a Beretta 92FC, and S&W Shorty Forty)
I was told, by both, after firing 20 rnds each, that the recoil felt like a hotter 9MM or low power 40 S&W. but heck, they really didn’t know too much at that point. LOL
I then tried the Fed Premium 125 Gr JHP. Loaded up 4 mags and went to work.
I sat down and steadied the weapon, and unloaded 20 rounds at 20 Yds. (See pic) NOT bad for a 3.75 incher. The Glock felt a little stiffer with the hot loads, big flash and loud reports. NO FTF, or FTEs at all! NO stove pipes with rapid-fire sessions. I unladed 100 rnd of this stuff downrange, with not one hiccup at all.
All-in-all, I think that due to shooting almost 200 rnds of various brands of ammo, and the fact this barrel dropped in with no fitting needed, it might be a great choice for consider for that dual caliber gun. Best of both worlds, as you have that option for 10MM or 357 Sig (for those who crave the need for speed) Double taps were not a problem due to the lighter bullet weight, the weight of slide and recoil springs.
I found the 357 Sig rounds to be shorter in the mags but they worked VERY well, with NO trouble. I was VERY suprised to see this, but I had my confidence up. There are no changes needed on the slide bolt face nor the ejector, due to the same diamiter of the cartridges at the rim. I'm positive you can get a 40 cal BBL as well, just in case you wish to try that.
I also found some +2 extensions at $7.50 per pair, for the 10 shot mags in the gun, making it a 12 shooter in the mag, and 1 in the tube (13 total) what a combo huh? Gets my juices flowing for sure!

Thx for that Bob - I am impressed! The deal on the barrel was sweet to say least - more so as you say it is a drop-in. Nice.

I was wondering about the mag fit re ammo (the 357 SIG) and how much any free float would affect things - seemingly no prob' at all - another plus.

Seems like you have got on to a winning combination - enjoy! (again!).
 Thnx Chris
I thought my report would be a good peice of info for our Glock shooting Forumites, as both the 10MM and 357 Sig are really good performers, and the thought of another conversion caliber for the G29 would make for a great CCW. As for the length of the 357 vs the 10MM cartridges, I found no trouble with feeding the weapon. Seems the necked case of the 357 made good work to assist in feeding the ctg up the ramp, and into the chamber. I fired it as fast as I could, in an attempt to produce a FTF or FTE, but nope, nothing at all. BTW, EFK sells a 40 S&W Drop-In Barrel for the Glock 29 as well. Maybe that conversion might make for a great G29 CCW as well.
I guess my conversion combo might start a trend for the Glockers, who are now given the same CCW choices.

Maybe my lack of Glocking may have to change! Tho in truth I really have to draw a line - somehow!

BTW Bob - this Wednesday I am helping out as RSO at club where a social shoot is going down - but once we have folks thru that, a few of us should be limbering up on MP5, SAW and probably a Mac ... ammo provided I am told
OOOOOOOOooooooooooooo you'll LOVE the SAW (M249) The Sqad Automatic Weapon. 300 Rnd links, plus the ability to insert M16 30 rnd mags..... .. you'll enjoy the MP5 as well, a bit heavy, but they work VERY well......The MAC, I hope it's the Powder Springs flavor, as it's the original degign. If it's a 45 Mac, the cyclic rate's around 1K a min. 25 rnds 3.5 seconds.soooo Hang on!

CC? I also have the 40 S&W barrel for the G29, along with the 357 Sig barrel... WOW, this Thread is going waaaaaaaay back in years, but I'll tell you something, you can use the factory 10mm mags and the gun runs without a hiccup.....Thought I'd respond to your post, and hope it helps you ...
