Just ran across this article. It happened in 2008 but I never saw until now. This is quite a story.

"On Aug. 8, 2008, in Farah province, Afghanistan, Cpl. Franklin Simmons was part of a small Marine force tasked with clearing the city of Shewan of Taliban fighters....Simmons was deadly accurate, even under intense enemy fire. By the end of the eight-hour long battle, he had killed 18 enemy fighters, and wounded at least two others."

I’d say he did a mighty fine job of it. Well done Marine.

Ya want a good read of deeds in battle, find Guadalcanal Diary by R. Tregiskis. Bravery is a long tradition in our armed forces, lets hope it continues...
